It has been announced that FONCY (Friends of Norwich City Youth) have handed over their last cheque to Norwich City. The fund raising supporters group has raised over £350,000 for the benefit of our academy. We should be thankful to all those that were involved and indeed the people that donated.

    Thank you FONCY.<ok>

No real reason given, but you can only assume that now people are having to be tight with their money, its getting harder and harder for any fund raising organisation to get the funds in.

Could it be to do with Academy funding rules under the new scheme?

Could be robbie, but what a fantastic effort they´ve put in over the years, when every penny helped. <ok>

That's a very good point. Our academy had their assessment today (according to Supers) so maybe all went well with that, but now there can't be any secondary income coming into the academy?

Here's a bit about FONCY from the pink Un:

The Friends of Norwich City Youth, formed in 1996, has handed over the last of their donations to the club after holding a winding-up meeting.

Chairman John Landamore, the driving force behind the group known as “Foncy”, confirmed: “We paid the last cheque over in August, about £10,000, and we have ceased working as a fund-raising organisation.

“We are a bit sad about it but nothing stays the same forever. It has been an absolute delight to be able to serve the club the way we have.

“We’re planning to carry on doing the website and the match reports, and as individuals we’ll still be up at Colney. We’re still the only club in the country to do a match day programme for academy games.”

Foncy’s contribution to City’s academy reached a final total of £363,696.57. The 57 pence is a reminder that the organisation was formed in darker days, when the club was in desperate need of every penny.

Players to come through the ranks thanks in part to the group’s work include Craig Bellamy, Robert Green, Adrian Forbes, Darel Russell to name but a few.

For more on how the group was formed, who was behind it, its legacy and why it is folding see tomorrow’s Norwich Evening News.

FONCY aren't the only ones, the Independent Norwich City Supporters Club (or Norwich City Independent Supporters Association as they used to be known) are almost definitely winding up at their AGM, I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea but it's a shame to see another supporters group cease to exist.

    Dear Member(s),

Those of you who attended last year’s Independent Norwich City Supporters Club AGM will be aware that membership of the organisation has been in decline for some time, mainly due to the improved fortunes of the Football Club and the fact that we are no longer allowed access to current players or staff.

Last year we rebranded the organisation in an attempt to reverse this decline and the committee have worked tirelessly to try to develop new ways of increasing membership. However, we have had little success and this has had an impact on the committee itself, with a number of members leaving during the year, or indicating their intention to stand down at the AGM. Twice this year we have had the problem of meetings being inquorate and subsequently unable to conduct business, and it is difficult to see this situation improving.

The simple fact is that the organisation’s raison d’etre, which is to take up supporters concerns with the club, has been undermined, firstly by the fact that, with City riding high there are less concerns being expressed, and, more importantly, because the current regime is not prepared to engage with supporters groups.

Consequently, we see no way forward and feel that the point has been reached where the options are to either wind INCSC up or see it enter terminal decline. While we are prepared to oversee any winding up operations that the AGM agrees upon we give notice that the committee members and officers will not stand for re-election at the AGM. If the AGM decides that a new committee can be formed, we will, of course, give it our full co-operation.

    Regards

    INCSC Committee
