Ta, I just assumed it was after the split ( not being a follower of the band)

Its a cracking song to jam along with

My favourite is Baby you're a rich man.

When A hard day's night was on at the Odeon I went to see it 15 times. It was on during the school summer holidays.

For anyone who's interested I do some of the Beatles stuff at home using my recording equipment and playing all the instruments.
You can listen to it (and download stuff) free if you google. Soundcloud then put in maddisongs at the top right of the dashboard that comes on.
Some of you other musicians may like to put your stuff on.

Any comments, positive or negative are welcome.

Not a fan of the most overhyped, over rated band of all time. Two thirds of their stuff is just plinky plonky rubbish to me. I much prefer the Stones or the Who from the 60's.

John Lennon however wrote some if the greatest songs ever AFTER the Beatles broke up. He was the real talent. I prefer other artists singing their better songs not them.

McCartney really gets on my nerves tbh.

Totally agree about McCartney, it's time he gave it away, he always did play music for the masses, Mull of Kintyre and all that ****e.
John Lennon was definitely the talent and George Harrison didn't receive the credit he was due at the time.
By the way, Ringo couldn't play the drums very well so George Martin used to bring a session drummer in for the recordings.

Don't think he got it after either. My Sweet Lord is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and sung with more meaning and passion than Lennon and Mccarthy did with any of their solo efforts. I listen to that song and I feel what George is feeling, his love, his frustration and his urgency for religious harmony, even though the subject matter clashes with my own belief system. Now that has to be good hasn't it?

A journo once asked, I think it was Paul McArtney, if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world. He answered "he's not even the best f*cking drumer in the Beatles".

I prefer My Sweet Lord myself mate but I don't think there's ever been a more meaningful song song written or sung with more passion than that. John was utterly tortured by his mother leaving him and then passing away, while not as melodic as My Sweet Lord I think it's a far deeper show of angst.

There's probably another thread in this actually. I think Lennon on his own recorded the greatest cover I've ever listened to. Narrowly beating Johnny Cash's Hurt.

Just a shame Phil Spector's a world class loon.

I wonder if Harrison thought the same about "He's so fine" when he ripped it off for "My sweet Lord" ?
    hahaha :p
