As they say " you can only beat the team put in front of you" and we have done that easily enough. It shouldn't be forgotten that two of the games were playing in high temps and high humidity Compared to last preseason we look focused, sharp, knowing the game plan . The style has evolved into a more attacking style. Last preseason and early season the players just seemed focused on passing the ball without doing anything with it because they knew that was Rodgers way. Now it's played with a purpose ,keeping possession but breaking forward at pace or looking for that killer through ball and we now have a few players who can play that killer pass. We have more attack minded players and,it would appear, more goal scorers. The younger players who came into the team last season look wiser and know what their about ESP wisdom who has looked very solid. The new signings ,to a man, have settled in well and look comfortable.and some fringe players have been moved or are moving on.also we obviously have seen nothing of Sturridge yet. I still hope for more 'big name' signings and hope the Suarez situation is resolved quickly. However,I feel even now we have enough to push for top 4/5 so if nobody else arrives then its not the end of the world. Remember what happened last season in January ! But it's just vital that we hit the ground running. We were so far behind last season that by the time we found decent form we were just too far off the pace. Anyway only 8 days to go and we shall see.YNWA (and sod off Suarez )
I think that's it, Rodgers and his team know the senior players like Gerrard and what their leg saving regime is: what they can and cant do. The youngsters are one year on and can be worked just a little harder with the mind that unlike last year they won't have to be used every week from day one because we have a little more depth. The team as a whole gets the passing game BR wants just that little bit more and know each others limitations with the exception of the new boys who should know the game already. And like it or not Suarez aside Rodgers probably has "his" dressing room, his back room team, etc etc as I'm assuming those that didn't rate him or he didn't rate have been thinned considerably.so everyone's that little bit more confident with each other. Not the finished article but fit and positive which is as much I can ask for before it gets tested for real.
I remember looking so forward to the WBA game, how that turned sour. Feeling slightly better for Bluff's points, but ever so slightly cautious.
