For @tigerscanadaOh dear, I can sense a Cortez the Killer post looming...
Wasn't it about Iggys girlfriend, so more personalised to him, though to be fair to be Bowie he released it to help Iggy out with a large tax bill he had

I had no idea NVB had anything to do with Gothic either. In fact, I'm not sure what Gothic music incorporates as a genre. Strange clothing/makeup/stage & video design fads. Can't see it having any musical definition...i'd no idea pasadena was gothic! was one of the sitcoms set there? rings a faint bell.
i've a friend who occastionally amuses himself by testing my musical knowledge to the extremes. he had a recording and i was asked to identify the artists. i twigged early on that the backing was by the temperance seven and after a few reruns of the track surprised myself by indentifying the singer as peter sellers.

Apologies - forgot about Winchester Cathedral being in the Gothic architectural style. Silly me.i'd no idea pasadena was gothic! was one of the sitcoms set there? rings a faint bell.
