My big brother was a DJ in the days when Djs actually supported bands in the 60/70's. His pinnacle was as The 'Acid Road Show', they supported numerous bands at festivals including the Stone. They were one of the first to maximise lighting. Based in the Midlands, they'd occasionally play local gigs for family favours etc, but it was always a massive local event. He'd sneak me in behind the decks. As a 10/12 year old, I was just mesmerised. Amazing memories. Actually. his main job was a teacher and he soon became one of the youngest head teachers and then advisors, etc. He was the clever twat of the family. As oldest brother, I was always a little bit in awe of him, Two weeks ago, I learnt he has been diagnosed with dementia This song reminds me of how I do prefer to remember him, controlling the floor and maybe at his happiest. please log in to view this image
Totally of the topic and I'm sure you'll have seen it, but that brought back to my mind the clip below. I thought it was pretty funny and good PR, but apparently the copper got told off. I'd have accepted the disciplinary just for the fun of doing it.
As it happens I loved this song from back then but this clip is brilliant in the way he has found a Fred Astaire routine which just fits the song perfectly. Watch when the song goes "with your living arms around me..." and how the fade out coincides perfectly with them exiting.
I will put that back up when they have a "Songs from your middle age even if you didn't like them." thread.
Robert Knight must have been pissed off. Their, in my opinion inferior cover was the hit then they followed up with an inferior cover of his Rainbow Valley. Saw them in front of 4,000 mainly hysterical females at Brid Spa because my then girlfriend thought the singer was ace for some reason.
I Ironic that he finally had a hit here with a song that, again in my opinion, wasn't as good as those two.
