Having just witnessed a truly awful beginning of the Roses set ... went to the big tent thing ... that song from Trainspotting...
seriously not trying to be clever but this song really did turn me on to music at a very early age, especially his first few hits. i became a teenager a few yrs later and the glam rock scene was well underway, along with slade sweet trex and it gave us lads summat to get up onto the dance floor as i and many of my mates wernt good enuff to dance to northern soul
courtesy of my older brother i got to hear two albums and learned to love this and ritz as opposed to the more familiar chart stuff
still cant listen to this without nodding my head and reaching for some black shades again my older brothers record collection came to the rescue and from this i listened to a lot of their stuff although didnt like the stuff with nico - too depressing and haunting but then moved on to lou reed and remember that was even more depressing lol the kids!!! from there it was onto bowies albums up to his soul period which i didnt like. "pushing through the market square....."
Honestly? This sounds like it could've been released by one of the indie bands around in the past 20 years. That's how ahead of the time VU were.
