Bit late but never mind, some great music this time, by that I mean sorry you younger folk but todays music I just cannot hack, take me back to the 50's, 60's, 70's and a little 80's and its my time. Yep that is what I know and love and will stick with, the X factor generation do nothing for me and even when my musical people pass away they have left a treasure trove to carry on.
It's pretty obvious we're from the same generation ref. One thing I would say about your comments is that there really are some talented musicians, singers, bands out there that have been spawned by the "modern" generation. Maybe not as many as we were fortunate to have been exposed to, but none-the-less worth listening to. Worth keeping an open mind imo. What has really surprised me over the many years I've been attending concerts is the number of youngsters who attend the "oldies" gigs and really seem to be into the acts. Some with their parents, and now even with their grandparents ! Musical tastes are very personal to be sure, but listening to some of the current day performers it's often quite obvious who they were influenced by in the development of their own "take" on the art. Personally I get a lot of pleasure from the FNMT postings as the young-uns put up stuff I've never bothered listening to before and often discover some gems. I'm not being critical by the way ref, just saying it's good to give new stuff a chance. You have excellent taste and like me, music is memories - important to us all.
I agree TC, I didn't say that there are no good bands, singers etc, it just that they don't do it for me, ok the odd Taylor Swift, Gaga, Ed Sheeran is massive but after a few songs I revert to what I know best and love, yep oldies mostly. I am constantly on Spotify, and I have Amazon music through Prime, but there is only so much you can listen too. I have my own playlists from various era's 50's, 60's 70's, like now I have Helen Shapiro singing, then up comes Petula Clark, The Chiffons, Bobby Vee, The Platters, you get the drift. One of the biggest genres ot make an impact is Rap, and that is totally alien to me.
Ron, you're the toughest poster on FNMT to get a handle on. IMO some extremely different music tastes/oblique references, but interesting stuff. It'll take me a while to appreciate, but I'll persevere. In the meantime., a couple of tunes in honour of your name ...
