The best is a matter of opinion but this is my favourite guitar solo.

Agreed...the opinion was whoever posted that clip on youtube, not mine btw, although Knopfler was/is a superb guitarist.
Mac are I would say my favourite ever band...in all their various incarnations. Spencer & Kirwin were fantastic additions to the original incarnation. PG was touted by Mayall as even better than Clapton when he replaced him in The Bluesbreakers. Saw JM in Toronto, maybe 5 years ago now. Still brilliant, and doesn't seem to have aged one little bit since I first saw him in '65. Could be my eyesight mind :emoticon-0106-cryin

I didn't know this until I googled it, but according to WiKi, it's the shortest ever record to reach# 1 in the US charts @ 1 min 36 secs.
Interesting fact, if that's what you were alluding to.

It is. It is the shortest record ever to be a number one. It wasn't a number one here. Any ideas what the shortest number one was in the UK? I know one other poster on here knows it as I first read it in lone of his posts.

That'd be tough. I could name dozens that should have been less than 10 seconds mind you - there have been a lot of lemons over the years !
give us a hint - the decade would help, so I don't cheat by googling. Instrumental may be a possibility ?
edit: It wasn't sung be a nun was it ? I've got a book that list the Top 5 for every week since '54, but it'll take me a while !!

Cheers

I remember when they played Poor Me on Juke Box Jury the audience applauded, which was the only time I ever heard that happen.
Reading about the programme some years ago it said this only happened twice. Unfortunately it didn't say what the two records were so I have no idea what the other one was.

To describe Jimmy Chamberlin's drumming here as 'piledriving' barely does it justice...
