Gotta update from '07 AH! Steam is a pain, but more annoyingly is that the game is that good and you soon forget about the initial hassle with steam.

i'm now in the prem. i cant buy anyone better than what i have got. still got 7 players from the time in league one! i dunno how to improve the clubs status so players want to come. I get bids accepted easily but then the wages are too high or they're not interested. any tips?

Greenwich - one thing you could try is readjusting your wage and transfer budgets - giving up some of your transfer funds to give better wages, obviously this affects how much you can spend but I often find that there are enough bargains out there (transfer listed players and free agents) and having wage power is often more important. Your other option is the loan market, in the prem you can get verge first team players from the big clubs, but not everyone likes this approach.

i get the whole adjust wage budget, but its just getting them interested. i had one new player for the start of the prem, then i played arsenal and lost 7-1.

Having the same problem, it also doesn't help that Paul Hart and Jeff Vetre leave without having any interest in re-signing. Don't know about your game, but Gago was out of contract. He was asking for 50k a week which I couldn't do. I then offered him a trial and he accepted, offered a contract again and he then only wanted 30k so signed him.

Best thing I've done is look at the 3 relegated teams and try and pick their best players, I.E Wickham, Sigurdsson, Villar(gk). Otherwise, have a look at the Brazil or Argentina under 19 and 21 team. Any players who don't play for a big european club will usually sign(work permit permitting).

I'm still in my first season (2pts clear of Preston after 23 games, 11 clear of Carlisle in 3rd!) so I haven't had to worry about appropriate players not being interested. I like Super's ideas of the trials and scavenging relegated teams although not sold on South American youngsters. I tend to set my search function so that the Assistant rules out uninterested players, and another option is to talk to the press and declare your interest to see how they respond.

I would recomend buying the best of the Championship that havnt been promoted along with you. I managed to assemble a squad together that kept me up with 45 points from the best of the Championship, youngsters that have failed to break into the first teams of the top 5/6, free agents and the odd loan signing.

For me the only players from real life that have gone on to contribute in my (now 3) Prem campaigns are Solly, Waggy and Morrison. If you have anyone else as first choice I would be worried. (Obviously this is only because were underated in the game and IRL we will win the Prem with this team within 4 years)

    My squad currently contains Cousins(starting), Wiggins(starting), Wagstaff(Starting), Solly(squad) and BWP(bench).

Cousins just won young player of the month. I'm 5 games in, won 1, drawn 2 and lost 2. Played Arsenal and Man Citeh though. Blooimin' hard though.. Relying on my midfield to keep me up as the rest of the squad aren't really up to it.

after my 7-1 hammering in the first game in the prem i am thinking of restarting it, buying some wonderkids on the cheap in league one and then making them "gel" in. by the time i get to the prem again, they'll be better than what i could buy!

You'll be lucky to attract wonder kids in league one. I still have that problem. Is and I'm in prem. that said, I've got 4 players who have the potential to become leading premiership players! Just a shame my first team squad are leading championship players <laugh>.

Thank you Mary Poppins! I lost all of yesterday on your advice that I MUST download it <grr> and I am just ready to play Hartlepool in first L1 match.

Did everybody else get rid of Cort as soon as possible? £10k pw for a loan player? I hope that is not the correct figures <yikes>

I got rid of him a bit later on when I got some better, cheaper cover in.

So come on AH, tell us all about your signings, ambitions, victories, conversations with slater RE wanting more money and your fines for blaming the referee about that last minute penalty.

I've not managed to play the last few days as real life has taken over - but just checking this thread I thought I should check out how much I'm paying Mr Cort! He's on a 5k a week contract with me (50% of his overall wage) so that makes him my 3rd highest earner but as I've had a fair few injuries since xmas I guess I'll keep him till the end of the season as cover for Morrison.

Quick update on my game, was looking great going into the new year but then hit a stumbling block in January (couldn't keep a clean sheet and BWP and Priskin couldn't hit a barn door) I bought in Agymang, Ramage (on loan) and Signed Davide Petrucci for free from Man U - I've got rid of Benson, Hayes, Green, Pritchard and Francis (as they all wanted to leave to get football) and I seem to have turned the corner. Currently I'm second in league 1 after 32 games - 4 points behind Preston and 8 ahead of Sheffield United also I'm in the JPT final (not much of an achievement but i plan on it being the only season I'm in it).

Looking forward to the run in (hopefully will get a good chance to play tomorrow and Tuesday evenings), Hope your games are all progressing well!
