downloaded this yesterday. think its much improved, seems to run a lot faster than the older version and seems to change windows a lot faster. first player i signed was james beattie. managed to flog doherty, francis and benson. so not only has my squad improved, but i am also saving money. currently 6th after 5 games. cant wait to get out of work to get back to it.
I won't pretend that I'm not jealous you guys are able to play the game I decided against Beattie because of his age, and in BWP, Hayes, Kermo and Chris wood I had enough fire power. Before my game died, around 35 games in, Beattie had scored over 25goals for them. I won't make that mistake again! Check out the Uzbekistan team also- got a left sided player in their squad for around 100k in Jan and he tore this league up. Got a brace against Wigan away in the FA cup on his debut.
Not sure- first my save game wouldn't load, then when I try to open it from the desktop it tells me the steam servers are too busy. Seems to be a common problem, and one that steam don't know how to address. Why do we need it to play the game? So frustrating.
the version i downloaded came with extra files..... one was a file called steam.dll. it recommended using this if you want to play it without a cd/contacting steam etc....
I thought you could load the game to play without steam? As I understand it, it takes longer to load but you don't have to worry about steam afterwards?
Steam is used to cut down on pre-release and early release piracy... Currently in the latter stages of my 4th season, won League One at the first attempt with BWP bagging over 35 league goals, finished 8th and 14th in the next to Championship seasons. Currently 1st after 27 games with Palace at the bottom!! Hamer, Solly, Wiggins, Morrison, Hollands, Stephens, Waggy, and BWP are the only survivors from out current squad, with Hollands and Hamer leaving at the end of this season, and the others becoming back-up once I return us to the Prem! Love the game, much improved and highly recommend it to anyone still undecided
I bought my copy from steam. I was informed steam was required, even if you buy the cd version. My recommendation, don't buy/use steam. It appears to be a universal problem with tbem, and one that they aren't addressing. Complete silence. JA- 4th season? I thought I was addicted!
there is a very helpful facebook group, simply called football manager 2012, that troubleshoots all technical/playing issues well
I've re-installed FM and steam, re-verified my game, changed my hosting location amongst other things. Sent my error report to steam but they havent gotten back to myself or anyone it seems. Bloomin gutted.

on the game he's in their reserves. solly is better in real life anyway, but he's underrated on the game
Lost 2-0...had Exeter in the playoff semis, won 1-0 at their place, was 1-0 up at home to them then they got 2 in 5 mins. I scored 3 in extra time. Had Sheff Utd in the final. Krmorgant scored a screamer to take me up 2 best signings of the summer were Joe Lewis and Joey O'Brien, both on frees.
Hows all of our games going? In some good news- I have today fixed my game. Haven't been able to play it since 31/10, but as I had a free afternoon was determined to fix it. Still lost 40% of my saved game - but will now spend my time on FM from now (4pm) till the wee hours of the morning as I have tomorrow off.
Slightly off topic but Grrr I'm very annoyed (obviously not as much as super and his saved game) now I got my job sorted and had some extra cash I thought I'd go out and get either fifa 12 or FM, but all the game shops I knew of have closed down!!! The one in cannon St, the one in canary wharf and the one in angel, and what has happened to hmv, the one in angel had no FM and no fifa in stock...back to fifa 11 tonight :-(
