I’m not particularly fond of flying as I don’t like putting the safety of my lot and myself in the hands of strangers. Pills and booze help.

The worst part of flying though is the airport experience. All those people getting in my way. **** off.

Not scared of flying, done it enough times on long haul flights for it not to bother me. The reason I hate it is the food, and more specifically the smell. Throw up at least once a flight when that tray of utter ****e goes round and everyone around me is stuffing their faces with it.

Flying hungover is also the worst experience imaginable.

yeah, I miss the days of buying a ticket and making a mad dash to the airport 20 mins before take off, I could buy a ticket and be in Spain within 3 hours, still be stuck in the airport now being forced to buy food at pret a manger.

Love flying, but hate almost all airports. Love my local one though, friendly security and decent coffee.
Be alright if you were in 1st and were facing him. A sort of human airbag!

Normally do long distance (12 hours) and i normally get quite excited before the flight for 2 reasons:

    1. i'm going on holiday
    2. i'm always fantasizing i'm next sitting next to some fittie i get to chat up.

In reality, i arrive, i sit down next to some average joe and i get bored and tired around 5 hours in.

Also as i've got older i've started to really dislike take offs and landings

I can relate. I hate the barotrauma. I don't know how many other people suffer with it but it seems to hit me the hardest.

It’s ****, like a crowded train is ****, but worse. At least the airports now have Wagamamas and ting so I can blow some money in relative comfort.

****ing parents not shutting their **** kids up.
Staff, who are generally excellent it must be said, flogging drinks/food/competitions/gifts every five minutes on a three hour flight.
All those ****s who leap out their seat as soon as the thing lands to try and be first off.
Those ****s who have snuck on a suitcase the size of a bath and moan there’s no space in the hold.
    Americans.

I'm using Ryanair next week and the robbing ****s have come up with a scam where you pay for your tickets at a set price then you get an email a few weeks before you fly telling you that for as little as £13 You can actually sit next to your family or friends,.

The seats at the front with more leg room are nearer £20 each , so if an average family with 2 kids want to sit together you need to fork out an extra £78 for the privilege.

The best airlines I have used are Cathay Pacific Emirates and Quantas BA used to be good but gone down hill.

A380 upstairs at the front on the big seats and walk in bar makes long journeys better.

The in-flight entertainment screens also vary quite a bit.

  13. Cathay is excellent. Air Canada has always been good when I have used it too

Emirates and Singapore Air used to be the best back in my globe trotting days

But I don’t do many long haul flights anymore, so things may have changed.

Rack up some serious miles during the course of a year mostly on long haul flights. No issues with flying but just boredom and trying to minimise the effects of jet lag which I have found get worse as you get older.

Stick to certain airlines for frequent flyer miles and privileges. Currently alternating between SIngapore Airlines and Qatar, as the Business Class is cheap on latter and economy is good on former. Also know exactly what seat I want - on economy always aisle seat in middle at back. Less likely to have someone next to you or be bothered by people going to the bog.

Longest flight done without a stopover. Kuala Lumpur to Sao Paolo via Istanbul.

Worst airports for landing La Paz in Bolivia, the old Hong Kong airport and Port Moresby in PNG.

There is something unnerving about watching people hanging out their washing as you come in to land.

La Paz and any other airports at altitude are scary because of the lack of lift. Tend to hit the ground hard and fast and take forever to stop.

Yeah, I remember the first time I flew into Kai Tak and thinking wtf!! I could practically see what these people were watching on their TV!

Geneva used to be a funny one too. Only take off abd land one way because of the mountains. On take off it’s gain height double quick before banking and going over the mountain.
