This is my estate last night. Lots more rain to come but the flood defence is working. Armbands are ready.

That’s not good, but as you say the flood defences design is obviously good.

Forecast a lot more rain down there for you today?

Why do people build houses in flood planes?


Because Barrett Homes don’t give a ****. A couple of years ago I recall watching a news item about a vaste area between the rivers Kennet and Avon which flooded, leaving hundreds of homes under 4 foot of water.

The thing is, this was near to several historic population centres, but the ancient Britons never built in that particular spot, nor did the Romans, the Saxons, the Normans, or anyone else for the next 1000 years. But sometime around the 1970’s, someone saw a chance to make a few bob...
