England striker, not wanted at current club, he needs to stay in EPL and playing regularly, we desperately need quality goalscorer. If he wants to keep representing England he has to perform. Rocket science it aint.

The main reason for the Leeds and Pompey debacles were wages. Yes transfer fees played a minor part but no wage structures were put in place at either club and players were being paid 30 or 40k more than most other clubs were paying players of a similar quality.

I personally don't think Fletcher is worth any more than £8m but it's not up to me as syd said

Just what is his true worth? or what is the true value of any player?

It's a world gone mad, we got 16 million for Henderson..

If he's good enough to lead our line, then he's worth £10m. If he' s not, don't buy him. But I'd take Carroll tomorrow IF he does ok in an interview and convinces Ellis and MON that being a mag will not be an issue. It doesn't have to be. Look at Chris Waddle...

    League goals in the last two seasons;

    Andy Carroll - 17
    Steven Fletcher 22

Carroll playing in better teams also. Here's a fact Andy Carroll had more headed chances on target than any other player last year yet 42 players scored more headed goals than Carroll one.

Fletcher on the other hand scored more headed goals than anyone else in the league and had the highest conversion rate.

Carroll's last transfer fee was £35m
Fletchers last transfer fee was £6.75m

I rest my case your honour

Would be gutted if we paid anything over £8 million for him, much rather keep money and save up for someone of some actually real quality like RVWolf, lets be ambitious man and not settle for Premier League journey men.

The Fletcher rumours wont go away but thats all they are rumours, I would be over the moon if MON was never even in for him in the first place and it was all just paper BS then we landed the Wolf on the final day! We signed Bent & Gyan now surely we can attract better than Fletcher.

Fletcher is ok he is just average, that makes him better than Bendtner and the other strikers we have on the books ATM. So signing him at whatever price would improve the team. In some ways we have been spoilt with the likes of Bent, Welbeck and to some extent Gyan, Fletcher is probably not as good as what we have had recently but better than what we have now, and he is in the price range for a mid-table team.

Fletcher is my number one target. Said this for weeks. I've watched the lad over 3 seasons and if impresses me more and more.

Good age, experience and reasonable goals record. He needs to step up a notch or two and we need a hungry striker looking to make a name for himself.

    Perfect.

I don't get the Fletcher is average comments. Rooney and RVP Wouldnt have scored 12 in the league last year for Wolves.

    And calling a player who's 25/26 a journyman, please.

As for Van Wolfswinkel, how he is so special in comparison? Because he has a foreign name? Holland and Portugal are a few notches below the Premier League.
