Obviously yeah, I'm not saying Manchester or Liverpool are as 'fabulous', easy there Elton, as Barcelona. However they're more 'vibrant' and they're a **** load richer, they have more money poured in by the government so they are more appealing not to mention there's more for wives.

    Agreed about Durham et al...

Also agreed about Sunderland, it needs reinvestment but that shouldn't have any bearing on a footballers choice. Great players are moving to Anzhi for ****s sake which is effectively in a horrific war zone.

I think the players make their choice based upon the media portrayal of Sunderland and the fact that we aren't a 'glamour' club.

I live in the village so I guess I don't live in a pit village really. Used to though.

I love village life though. I was only having a bit of fun with my earlier comment though.

I wonder where he'll refuse to move to next?

These players, who have never won a ****ing thing in their lives, manage to convince themselves they can pick & choose where they want to go.

Darren Bent was twice the finisher Fletcher is and he'll end up back at Charlton.

No mate, you misunderstand my point ...... this post isn't a grudge against Fletcher, he doesn't hold that much interest for me.

It's simply a tool to highlight a basic problem with the game these days, as I'm sure you really know <ok>

The point is that the likes of Fletcher, Bent, Wickham, Graham etc manage to waste their entire careers chasing money.

Graham is content to sit on his arse rather than drop his insane wage demands and fight for some respect.

Do these players forget that they dreamed of playing football, winning trophies & making a name for themselves?

If Mrs Smug is watching one of her programmes & there's nowt football related on page one I'll just put a page number in the search and take pot luck ....... some of them are ****ing hilarious but I resist the urge to post them and embarrass people.

Sometimes it will trigger a response on a particular issue that's relevant, such as this thread <ok>

No complaint mate, just curious. Sounds a decent way of passing time to be honest. I'm more of a time waster than passer.

Not much time tbh mate, just once in a while, for a few minutes, in between reading or winding down with the TV etc.

Some of the threads are truly hilarious and some relevant like this one.

It highlights just how little love some players have for SAFC or commitment people like Fletcher have, explains a lot when you watch him play now. The same goes for Wickham who's obviously concentrating more on lining up the next deal than his game.

He'll become another Kenwyne Jones who could've become a great player but chased the money and watched his career slip away.

The idea of winning trophies and making a name for yourself seems as old fashioned as Brylcreem & footballs with laces.

Well that's an opinion I suppose.

I mentioned 'Fletcher, Bent, Wickham, Graham etc' so it can't be all crap can it? Bent left Sunderland for money as we all know, Graham didn't leave because of money as we all know and both Fletcher & Wickham are treading water while the next fee & contract come along.

Wickham is only here because a better deal didn't turn up in the summer. He's refused to sign a contract and will worm his way out of Sunderland like Colback did. In his case I'm not saying he has spent all his career chasing money but predicting he will because it seems more important to him than his football.

If you see that as 'a load of crap' then, as I said, that's an opinion of sorts .......
