We have seen in the press quite a lot recently where flares / smoke bombs have got into the stadium and used which have been banned in England.

One recent case was at Villa park where a Spurs fan threw one on the pitch which hit the linesman....

You would think that incidents would stop due to the consequences what would happen to the individuals who use them and fines for the club along with the affects that they can cause on individuals who breathe them in.

I guess not! TWO flares / smoke bombs were let off in the away end at Tamworth by City fans on live National TV!

A 23-year-old female steward suffered smoke inhalation and respiratory problems. She was taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield for treatment. An investigation into the incident is under way and local officers are reviewing CCTV from the club and working with the Avon and Somerset Police to identify the suspects.

Gary Lote, football liaison officer for Staffordshire Police, said: “We are determined to identify the offenders of this incident which resulted in a young female steward requiring hospital treatment. I would urge anyone with any information to contact me or Crimestoppers. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and dangerous. It could have had serious consequences for innocent members of the public including families with young children."

i do like the atmosphere they create but that only seems to work in big crowds like abroad. but i hope we dont see them at a rovers game!

In February a 14-year-old boy was killed at a game in Bolivia after being hit by a smoke bomb.

15-year-old boy suffered lung damage from a smoke bomb thrown during Villa's visit to Wigan in May.

There is a growing trend: during the entire 2012-13 that figure was 172, a sharp step up from 72 the previous season and only eight a year earlier. Significantly, last season saw 71 arrests for "possession of a firework/flare at a sporting event", an increase of 154% on the 2011-12 season.

After polling 1,635 fans the survey found that more than 50% had been at a game featuring pyrotechnics, 24% had experienced a smoke-obscured view, 10% had suffered smoke inhalation and 2% had been affected by heat from a flare.

I take it you was all gob bout going down to AG in the tinpot cup then, because you lot let one off then. Pot kettle and all that <ok>

hope this aint correct. i didnt see it on tv. to be fair i didnt see the 2 go off yesterday during the city game. im just going by what the post is reporting!

Think it was when you scored it went off, just checked with my daughter who confirmed it <ok>

<ok> again as said earlier, i like them as they help create a good atmosphere. but they are so dangerous and just not worth the consequences that could happen, a football ban? fine? club fine? health problems to others? just not worth it. there has been so many warnings about this especially since the incident at villa park where 1 hit the linesman. think those who continue to use them let their clubs down and fans due to the dangers of them.

would be great to be there in this crowd. what a atmosphere!
