I think the opening fixture could be a blessing. Most of City's players will be lacking rest/preparation from the Euros, whereas ours will be fully prepared, rested, and chomping at the bit. This would be the prime time to cause an upset. That said, I am also ****ting myself as I write this. Also, the run in is looking good, just in case, well, you know...
An easy 12 points from the first four games and then kick on from there eh? (Although the Wigan fixture is a tough one).
The good thing is that there's no pressure on you for three of the the first four games. Once you get past them you can start looking up. You just have to hope that it you get beaten badly by the big teams it wont effect your players mentality too badly thereafter. Its all to easy to get into a funk in football results after all.
Schedule definitely runs hot and cold...will need a result against Wigan, or the first four could be quite ugly. West Ham's is entirely mental, though; starts with winnable games, but November-December features a span where they play nine of last year's top ten in ten games (Fulham being the lone exception).
Tough start but we have to play all of them sometime. Run out not bad, so could help if we are pushing for the title Not bad for me...I can get to 7 games before the end of the year. Now I'm going to fret over how to get tickets.
I just hope we can recover from the start quickly, win against Wigan would be very nice... if we get caught up in getting bummed at the start then we could have no momentum and end up in a scrap at the bottom, will need to recover quickly.
The Villa and Everton games are key for me. Anything more than 3 points from the first 4 would be a bonus so it will be important to get points in this 2 to get a bit of form going. Everton always start slow so I'm happy with that game. Also, everyone redirect your attention to the bottom of the list. The run in looks as good as it can be and that's when it's really going to matter
Gutted I can't get to the City game! April's a must win month. Always expected a tough start but was hoping....
Pros and cons to our start. Pros are the big teams players will be tired and they'll likely underestimate us. And they'll still be gelling into the team. Cons are that the players are playing for places in the team for the season, and that the squad won't need to be rotated as the league won't have taken its toll just yet.
