    The best time to play the big teams is at the beginning of the season IMHO.
    We'll be an unknown quantity too (with hopefully new players) so I'm hopeful of a reasonable start.

    What a nice start. I think I'll predict 2 to 6 points from the first 8 games, confidence shot, fans turning on McClaren, Williamson getting sent off on purpose, Sissoko AWOL, Saylor out for 18months after treading on some lego, Colo the only available (very) senior CB... Sadly this does not even feel like particularly pessimistic thinking, just realistic.

    Im really not looking forward to the new season, I see it being very much the same as last season, rarely do we ever witness a half decent 90 minute performence, a great goal or several pieces of magic, its just become really stangnant

    Our Christmas period is surprisingly less brutal than normal (even have a home boxing day fixture..last time that happened was 1932 I do believe), first couple of games in January back to business as usual, mind

    Jeez thats not a pretty start to the season. Think we could end up around 10 points after 10 games which will demoralize everyone and thing connected to the club.

    I do think at this level of football it is all about mentality, momentum and confidence. You can see it in the players last year. the quality is there, some of the goals Cisse scored were outrageous, for me the start of the season is the most important section, closely followed by January

    Why are people whinging? We play every team twice, the order shouldn't matter.

    Just be grateful that we don't have Huddersfield at home on the opening day because that's what it could have been.
