so we'er one goal away from being the first club to concede 1000 goals in the premier league. That really does show the ethos of our team about scoring more than the other! or maybe it just shows why spurs are the best team to support when you want thrills and spills...

The sad thing is at least 5% of those can be attributed to Didier Zokora...

Defensively he was sound, he made a few suicidal passes but no more than Palacios or Freund. I don't see why he gets so poorly treated by Spurs fans, especially considering how much worse a lot of other players we've had have been.

Mainly as he was a useless defensive midfielder, with a habit of conceding free kicks on the edge of the penalty area...

That sounded like you were describing 'The White Cafu' there, until I got to "on the edge of the penalty area", and realised my error. Hutton was more a fan of conceding needless penalties- made things that much more exciting...

Agree YV - think Zokora gets an unfair press for some reason, where every mistake he made is exaggerated.
For me, he always put in a good stint for the team. Maybe he wasn't exactly Claude Makele, but until recently we haven't had a much better DM.

And watching him get a nosebleed as he approached the opposing penalty box was quite amusing at times!!

Haha, yeah. One thing I think he was particularly unappreciated for was when we completely shut down for the last 10/15 mins with a one goal lead, he was the only who played the ball out, his rather erratic runs at the end of games were very important.

Davids & Carrick had us forget to finish fourth
Palacios' short-term impact secured fourth
Zokora...nope.

How are we regarding goals scored in the PL?
If we are the first to a thousand against, were we relegated from the PL at some time and nobody told me?

Funny thing. My favourite baseball team,Philadelphia Phillies were the first to 10,000 defeats.
Am I a jinx?

no its because we've played more than most teams because we haven't been relegated. Well at least spurs haven't lost a thousand times!

It's because we've played the most open football out of us, Villa and Everton.
The other ever-present clubs have generally outperformed us during the Premier League era.

Davids - had forgotten about him somehow! Great player: 2 seasons 05-07 and 1 goal in 40 apps
Carrick - good player, certainly more creative and if he had stayed could have become a Spurs 'legend' potentially, but decided the grass was greener rather too quickly, so he loses out for me. 2 seasons 04-06 and 2 goals in 64 apps. (also had Davids for cover for one season)
Palacios - as you say, an early impact, but mainly for reasons out of his control, he never recovered to play at the intensity of the first few months. 2 seasons 09-11 1 goal in 65 apps

Zokora - 3 seasons 06-09 88 apps and no goals (1 pen in a shoot-out). But played in 2 Cup Finals.

Stats from wiki......

It's pretty lucky Zakora didn't score, it would have caused a pitch invasion in celebration and the we'd probably have had to play the rest of the season behind closed doors as the FA dislike us so much.

If he'd scored when he was clean through against Chelsea in the CC final, we'd have been in big trouble. I think he knew that and purposely missed :D
