It's a little known fact that Rod Hull was once under investigation for trying to stick his hand up Marilyn Manson's arse.

Wrong, I never said they were brought in to control people, you did.

Its awful, the laws against rape, murder, torture etc were brought in just to control people. Its a ****ing nanny state we live in.

That's why I said some laws are good. Creating laws for rape or murder is still trying to control rape or murder

    It's obvious

You're just arguing for the sake of it

    Whit? <confused>

Rape and Murder are "crimes". The law is not meant to "Control" people who commit those particular offences, it's meant to protect people from being victims of those crimes.

    Common Law
One of the two major legal systems of the modern Western world (the other is civil law), it originated in the UK and is now followed in most English speaking countries. Initially, common law was founded on common sense as reflected in the social customs. Over the centuries, it was supplanted by statute law (rules enacted by a legislative body such as a Parliament) and clarified by the judgments of the higher courts (that set a precedent for all courts to follow in similar cases). These precedents are recognized, affirmed, and enforced by subsequent court decisions, thus continually expanding the common law.

    Why are you confused?

The majority of people don't want crime

    How do you stop crime?

    Nobody can answer that

So you control crime or more feasibly those who can potentially commit crime

Crime is a creation anyway. When the first ever monkey killed the second ever monkey it wasn't a crime

The fact that we abhor the murder of one person but think another deserves it backs this up

But what if something isn't a crime yet we don't like it. Then you create laws to control what those people are doing. To control their behaviour

There ye go again wea yer lunatic assumptions. I'll have you know the first ever monkey and second ever monkey loved and respected each other and went on to sire many many monkeys. Who dare you cast aspersions on Monkey 1 and 2 in such a libellous fashion.

You can get arrested for that **** you know.

You don't know what you are talking about even though I've explained the concept of "Common Law".

it has ZERO to do with control, it is a set of rules agreed upon by people with common sense over hundreds of years.

Put away your Anarchy for Dummies <ok>

Laws have zero to do with control?

You're just getting angry now dev and typing pish

Laws can be good and can be due to common sense etc but they are still there to control the actions of people

You're getting so wound up, again , that you're refusing to even consider the truth and are creating a picture of me as an anarchist because I said it's about control

If laws are only about common sense we wouldn't need a judiciary system the size it is

Laws are about controls...laws are designed top control citizens actions. Without laws, there would be anarchy...
