Didn't the announcement say that this was 'part' of the pre-season friendlies, implying that there are more to be arranged/announced!

Brentford on Aug 1st will be the last one, as the season kicks off on 8th.
I've always enjoyed seeing a Real Sociedad, Borrussia Monchengladbach, etc though I do take on board the fact that we won't play them at any other time than a warm up match.
Just oozes a bit more glamour.....than Hitchin Town <yikes>

Does anyone have any clue as to the reason for this particular choice? It is not as if they are a Norfolk side and it is a bit pf PR like the Gorleston game.

The only link I can find - and it's a tad tenuous, is that their nickname is 'Canaries' as they play in yellow and green.
Hmm, thinking it through, this will be McNally's idea - as a reason / good excuse to trot out our new away strip and boost sales of it? Assuming it's out by then, of course.

P.S. Unless they've got a centre back we're chasing - remember the game vs Dartford to say "thanks for letting us take Cody MacDonald off your hands"? :emoticon-0112-wonde

According to the Lincolnshire Echo we are playing Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on July 29th. Must be a second eleven as that is the day after the wet sham match.

The official site has it listed as a Norwich City XI, so yes, that would be right.
The 'A' team will still be recovering from having lumps kicked out of them by the Hitchin Canaries <laugh>

Seems we will be playing Israeli team Maccabi Haifa in Austria this summer. Does this give us a clue about where the pre-season tour will be?

Pre-season counts for so little it is not worth worrying about.

I always find it interesting. I know early on its basically about fitness but it interesting to see the new team come together.

That is true Bath but because friendlies lack the intensity of the campaign proper any promising results need to be tempered, that was what I was trying to say and didn't do it very well.

I know Pre-Season is about getting fitness up, but I also see it as players trying to impress the manager to claim a spot in the team, gelling together, working out which is the best formation and tactics to use etc too. Losing or Winning isn't important (although getting wins could boost confidence) and it's good to have teams that can test you and give you a game.
