Hi all!

This is my first post on here and I thought it should be about our possible 'second team'. Below is a contender for our strongest starting XI:

1st XI

James

Ribeiro Carey Fontaine Mccallister

Adomah Cisse Kilkenny Bolasie

Maynard Stead

The strength of our squad is so great that we could eliminate all 11 of the above players from selection, and still produce a very competitive side:

2nd XI

Gerken

Skuse Stewart Nyatanga Edwards

Campbell-Ryce Elliott Johnson Woolford

Pitman Clarkson

We'll certainly be getting more players (particularly defenders) either through purchase or loan. But regardless of who else Millen brings into the team we will certainly be a formidable force in the Championship this season.

Players Remaining:

Hunt
Wilson
Taylor
Jackson
Ball
Amid-Holloway

I think this shows that however we line up in midfield and up front (with some places a given) we really need to get a dominant centre half in, pronto. The defence really needs a big overhaul and if we can keep this squad together and move on a couple who are a fringe players next season then we'll be a force to be reckoned with, as it stands I think our weakness at the back will see us around mid table again at the end of the season.

Good post and welcome to the forum <ok>

Bangtidy - welcome but you're having a laugh.

The '2nd Team' would be relegation certs.
If Millen doesn't get his ass in gear and bring in at least 2 decent defenders in your suggested '1st Team' then bottom half is where we'll finish next May.

I agree that the defence needs some work, as does virtually everybody related to City including Millen & the players. I was merely stating that despite this defensive drawback our options for a 'forward 6' is one of the strongest in the league, and this is something we should be very excited about.

It depends on how training goes and the spirit of the camp, dont forget that Fontaine, Carey and McAllister were big parts of the side that finished 4th.

We need everone playing right, if last season was the best they can do they need to be realeased.

We need Jamie McCombe only better.

Welcome, and apologies for the intrusion of some of our Welsh followers... You know who you are.

Personally would put Elliot ahead of Cisse but agree need a stronger back 4.

Maynards going mate, why on earth would he want to stay with you, it says something when a promoted team is after your best player.
Seeing as im in a generous mood.
Cardiff so far;
David Marshall, Tom heaton,Kevin Macnaughton,Mark Hudson,Deckel Keinan,Anthony Gerrad,Paul Quinn,Peter Whittingham,Andrew Taylor,Don Cowie,Stephen Mcphail,Craig Conway,Jon Parkin,Aaron Wildig,Darcey Blake,Gabor Gyepes,Lee Naylor,Nat Jarvis,Jonathan Meads,Ibby Farrah.

2 strikers and a midfielder and were good to go, can still put out an 11 to beat your sorry lot tho

We'll see wont we.

Reckon you're gonna struggle with that lot. (Jon parkin <laugh><laugh>) wouldn't swap squads with that bunch of **** and thats the truth.

still you can go back to sheep bothering when it all goes tits up.

Looks like a squad that at best will try and grind out gritty 1:0 results - exciting stuff!

+1

Jon Parkin = feed him and he will score <laugh>

Conveinently looking past such greatness in your squad such as Calamity James, Ribena, Spag Bolasie, Stead, and that Leeds reject Killkenny, to name but a few.

Relegation welcomes Bristol City with open arms and a loving embrace <rofl>

Again, hardly anything you say is factual! Kilkenny rejected Leeds and several other Championship clubs to join us.

David James has done far more than Marshall has and ever will... So if James is that bad, how bads Marshall?

Stead you say? the same player you tryed to sign last year? who ended up signing for us?.............

Interesting, you dont seem to do alot of research before you post, then again your a Cardiff fan so that doesnt at all surprise me.

Christ what have you been feeding him! Looking like a lean mean fighting machine lol class,

He wanted to stay at Leeds but on higher wages. He was then booted out and, as a free agent, joined Bristol City. He may have rejected other Championship clubs to go to BC, but he certainly didn't reject United.
