So as the new season approaches, players reaching full fitness and the majority of business in the transfer market being concluded (in our case), who for you, is the first five names on the team sheet? I think this year particularly it's a tough five to compose, so should be interesting reading. For the sake of it, I've thrown in the other 5 teams who finished ahead of us two, to see how we compare.

1 = Most important

Liverpool

1.
Coutinho
2. Henderson
3. Sturridge
4. Sakho
5. Mignolet

Chelsea

1.
Hazard
2. Matic
3. Courtois
4. Fabregas
5. Costa

Manchester City

1.
Aguero
2. Kompany
3. Silva
4. Hart
5. Sterling

Arsenal

1.
Sanchez
2. Cech
3. Koscielny
4. Giroud
5. Cazorla

Manchester United

1.
Rooney
2. De Gea
3. Mata
4. Schweinsteiger
5. Blind

Tottenham

1.
Kane
2. Eriksen
3. Lloris
4. Vertonghen
5. Chadli

Mine -
Mig
Cout
Fimino
Clyne
Sakho

Rodgers -
Hendo
Allen
Skrtel
Cout
Benteke

@IBWT - Was tempted to put Firmino on there, but still relatively unknown for me.. Will wait and see. As for Clyne, I think Gomez may challenge him this season

@paul - I agree but for me Kompany doesn't have enough competition. As for Toure, Fernando and Fernandinho are there, Silva/Sterling/Nasri can all play that AM position. I agree that for now though he's first choice.

Manchester United

1.
Rooney
2. De Gea
3. Mata
4. Schweinsteiger
5. Blind

No. Just No!

1. Herrera
2. Mata
3. Rooney
4. Carrick/Schneiderlin
5. De Gea

To be fair it's difficult to pick a first 5 considering we have players who are just as important. And if Carrick is injured then Schneiderlin's importance increases.

4. Carrick/Schneiderlin

Surely having Carrick/Schneiderlin Defeats the whole point of the thread <laugh>

First choice for you must be De Gea? You don't have another keeper!

Rooney is your only striker so he'd have to be second.

Rest is whoever

Dont understand what you're getting at? If you're saying a goalie is a must then yes ofcourse the goalie will be everyone's 1st choice as your team cant play without them. But if you're asking the order of importance then they're as I've said.

And we do have more than one keeper <laugh>

You do but the other ones been told to ****off <laugh>

I think De Gea IS your most important player. No way you'd have got fourth last year without him. Easily the best keeper in the PL and up there with the best in the world IMO.

Not often I rate a player more important than a goalscorer either <ok>

Agree he was but we've got to move forward. He simply cannot be our most important player this season. Although we wouldnt have got top 4 without him, a goalie isnt enough to win trophies. From what I saw in the 2nd half of last season, Herrera and Mata along with Carrick will be our most influential players this season. If Carrick is injured then Schneiderlin.
