Apparently I went to Palace 76 and saints 76 in Div 2 but all I can remember is lots of people: 54000 v palace and 43000 v saints.

First matches I really remember were fulham home 76; best etc 55000 in and apparently 10k locked out.

I vividly remember the crush at my next match in 77 v saints.

My dad says police did not anticipate the turn out and 40000 turned out to see ossie for a night match and I was scared/thrilled by Mass of crowd

My local 'second' team has always been Luton Town. Still go to see them now in the Conferencewhen

The first game I ever went to was a 4th Division home game against Millwall (poor planning on somebody's part...) in 1971. I was in the relatively safe Kenilworth Road and we were cruising to a 3-0 win up until the 75th minute when the Millwall fans decided to evacuate the Oak Road and run the length the pitch in order to get the game abandoned. It was my first ever sight of football 'hooligans' - grown men (and kids) carrying baseball bats and wearing miner's helmets. They all jumped into our end of the ground and doubled the capacity in about 2 minutes! When you hear about guys literally ****ting their pants (normally in battle conditions) I can only sympathise - I got very close to it that day!

Don't worry, once LTFC got up to the old First Division I was living away from home and the potential conflict of loyalties was neatly avoided. GKRK.
