Very excited for this weekend - having been to watch the Toon a few times on the road (we even won a game), I’ve finally talked my dad into taking me to St James’ for my birthday. I could have gone on my own before now, but really wanted my first home game to be with my dad. That Sir Bobby quote has always stuck in the mind. Besides, it’s the old bugger’s fault that I’m lumbered with supporting the Toon in the first place, so why should I suffer alone? Any suggestions? Pubs, parking, how early to arrive? We have seats in the Gallowgate upper tier.
You can park near Manors or under next to Swan House roundabout reasonably cheap and with no restrictions on length of stay, if you can metro/taxi in that would be my preferred option then you can have a few beers. Beer in the ground is ****, unless you're in the platinum club and even then it's only marginally better so avoid it if you can. In terms of pre-match drinks, take your pick mate....everywhere will be busy so just go where you would normally go for a few beers is my advice. Top end around Haymarket is normally popular due to it's location, or the Gate. Regardless of where you end up or how you get there, enjoy the game mate....I still gasp when I walk out onto the terraces and see the pitch, even despite the fact that I've played there myself twice. It's a different kettle of fish when the stadiums full, I can guarantee that the hairs on the back of your neck will stand on end when the lads run out to Local Hero! Enjoy the experience, I hope the performance and the result is something for you to remember, do come back here and fill us in on your thoughts tho.
If you park at the bottom end of the Toon, head for the Monkey Bar ( The Market Lane ) It'll be jumping
I just watched read a passage from killer fiction by Gerard Schaefer called blonde on a stick , so I don't believe you.
That f*cking Jonah cronemeister will be sitting in the pub pissing himself thinking that he's no longer to blame....
Can you go to more games please mate? Bet you enjoyed that, although I suspect you weren’t so happy at half time like!!
GeordieHalfbreed and me are getting married tomorrow and you're all welcome. He doesn't know yet of course. I asked Pickford to be our best man but his response suggested he wouldn't do it.
