First ever away game...

Newcastle in about 1956 would be my first away game. First proper away game was Liverpool in F.A, Cup, we won 2-0 and I think Ian Lawther got the goals, about 1958.

Wow! That is going back mind. Even I wasn't born!

First for me - apart from a couple of ( pretty hairy) days at Boro - was the City away Cup game in 1973. Still at school and much pleading done to be allowed to go.

Mine was scunthorpe United in the 2nd round of the FA Cup we got beat 2-1 there was absolute carnage that day, I was also at York aswell, again absolute carnage, I was 15 and absolutely loved it, got thrown out with 20 minutes to go as me and my mate were bursting for the bog, couldn't get near the loos so walked down the steps at the back of the stand, we found a blue door that seemed a good place to go, the door opened and was full of coppers and we just stood there mid flow.
We got back in before the final whistle after a load of lads decided to basically rip the gates open

I was invited in the dressing room that game at half time and full time, think it was Ken Knighton, just wrote to him and asked, got a letter back saying aye no problem. Don’t think that would happen now.

Wow, your first away game sounds like quite an adventure! I can totally relate to that excitement and anticipation. My first away match was a local derby, and I remember the nerves and the thrill of traveling with fellow fans. We had a crazy early start too, and it felt like a real bonding experience. Despite the loss, those memories are priceless. However, now I prefer gambling to watching sports, as there are many ways how to make money in games. It's pleasant to have extra cash!
