Was only joking mate. My rep tells you I wasn't a wum, I wished you the best for the coming season. I left positive smiling emotions. I was just trying to break the ice but some have defence tapped into their gene pool. Get great crack off the Norwich board. They certainly weren't abusive.

Anyway, back to footy. You explanation shows why making predictions is so daft. For the record, I think we'll both be ok. Last season was crazy with point difference between relegation and top half. I think we've both improved our squad along with Norwich and I think we're three for a comfortable mid table finish. We've all got decent managers and I think we've got a lot of reason for optimism. On paper I see Palace, Hull and stoke struggling. but wouldn't dream of putting any definitive prediction down. there's still a lot of team who haven't improved enough. To stand still is to move backwards and all that jazz. <ok>

It`s going to be interesting to see what happens with both clubs in the NE. That Kinnear situation will surely end in tears one way or another. Sunderland got a bounce when PDC arrived - I was at the Sunderland -Saints game at the end of last season, and I thought, for the home side, Sunderland were a bit flat - maybe because safety was nearly assured. PDC could continue to build belief, or just as easily loose the dressing room with his antics and criticism of players. It`s his team this year, with his tactics - it won`t be boring !

Agree with that Aberdeen. Will be a lot of pressure on Di Canio and the press will be foolowing his every move!

I've got 10 points from these, would love to get a result at Anfield but can't really see it. Norwich / West Brom away will both be tough, all 3 home games are massively winneable.

Think we have the chance to do something similar to WBA this year. They had a useful few fixtures to start with and were top 4. I think we can achieve this and suddenly your good start sets the tone for the whole season. Opposition as well as the players themselves then view us as possible European contenders, despite us having played some kind fixtures. This confidence gives us a better chance against the bigger teams.

WBA-draw
Sunderland-win
Norwich-loss
WHU-win
Liverpool-draw
Palace-win

Was discussing this at work. Last season our first six matches resulted in 5 losses and 18 goals conceded with only 3 points from a home win against Villa.

So how do we all think we will fare this time?

Our first 6 are

WBA away
Sunderland home
Norwich away
West Ham home
Liverpool away
Palace home

I'm going for two home wins, one away win ( Norwich) and a draw. Losses at Liverpool and possibly West Brom. Gives us a total of 10 points.

What do you think?

On my predictor ive got you guys down for 4 draws - 1 win(palace) and 1 loss(liverpool). = 7 points.

Good Luck for the season.

I'm suprised so many of you are saying we will beat West Ham at home. How did you come to this conclusion? As far as I can tell, we're still going to struggle to break down defensivley minded teams, with Lambert getting marked out the game, and until I see our new defence in action against a PL team I really have no idea how well they are going to perform. Carroll is a beast on his day, and I believe WH have just signed a new winger so they're going to be whipping it into him from all directions. I think we can expect points against Palace and maybe Sunderland and Norwich.

I went on KUMB last night to see what they were saying about us (I know), I'd love to say they all hate us and put us 19th, but to be fair pretty much all mid table with a few saying 8th or higher.

Not really. Only in Div one and part of that was down to their manager (now gone). Unless you know something historical that I don't know. Though will admit that drawing Brighton would add a little something to a Cup.

Probably just a personal thing Fran. Never liked the club and had a few disappointments against them over the years.

Of course, I inferred that you were from your second post, problem is that smileys can be a sign of peace and love and all that goodness or a passive-aggressive jab depending on who is wielding them, tough to know without knowing the poster or a great deal of context. And rep, god knows what that is useful for, you can be a massive tosser but still have an enormous rep by benefit of visiting some of the shadier areas of these lands. No-ones fault really, just a simple mis-understanding, we're a very cosy closed community over here, we don't get many visitors and most of them are big meanies. <wah>

And I agree with you, predictions are a fool's game, you'll rarely find me making them.

Totally agree, I've never made a prediction in my life and don't think I ever will.
