But Adam Clayton only really has one year behind him, Howson who was Leeds captain been a major player for them last FEW years is probably on less for us, and they are the same age. So I still think that's high wages for Adam Clayton. I agree we have to start spending more on wages but still need to control it best we can.
i don't know but i'd guess the wage cap will increase moderately this summer. as i understand it, the basic salary cap at norwich is 15k a week (not including bonuses etc) so i can see this going towards the £20k mark over the next couple of seasons, but nothing drastic - the board won't cripple the club again, not even for the sake of staying up. agree about clayton yellowlittle - wages too high for what he's done in the game. thats allegedly the same as howson is on at norwich and he's got 250 appearances behind him, not to mention he's a better player in my opinion
We are getting towards the argument that has bedevilled football for so long and our club recently. Where do you go when you achieve some measure of success which is where we are at the moment. Personally I couldn't give two hoots about the Premier League but have been attracted to what it has brought me as a Norwich supporter this season. I can now, as an ex pat, watch every game on the internet, hear my team mentioned on the sports news at least once a day, and get respect from those who know sod all but purport to have been a Chelsea/Mankini City supporter all their life. If we step up and start paying the 20/25K wages thats another £5M a year plus transfer fees and we would certainly get very little in for the players we moved on. At this stage of the season, I would imagine even the most blinkered supporter would admit that we have to improve for next season and the decision rests with the board alone based on the recommendations of the manager. Will the Claytons and their ilk be that improvement? Especially with the demands their agents will make upon us.
Not sure what school you went to fella, but I'd have a word with your old maths teacher (if he's still alive) if I were you
Thought redruth was talking about the whole squads wages being raised to £20 - 25k. If it is £15k a week at the moment, and it were to go to £20k that would be an extra £5.2m pa for the squad, £10.4m if cap raised to £25k.
Huh??? Since when did we have a 1000 man squad??? Either I'm missing something here or you boys definitely need a few more maths lessons!
Sorry, was basing my earlier post on a 20 man squad. Should have been 25 Players X £5000pw extra X 52 Weeks = £6.5m or extra £10k per week = £13m, I think
I tell you what boys, I think I need to go back to school! Good job I don't work with stats every day isn't it
This was my original thinking. Squad of maybe 20 getting top money=15K. I quoted 20/25K but went for the lower figure of 20K. Thats an increase of 20 X 5 = 100K extra a week. Multiply that by 50 weeeks and that comes out to £5M extra to pay next season than this season.
Adam Clayton has as much ability as Howson but plays more of the Johnson role hes ten times better than Johnson! He is reportedly on 3-4k a week atm and Leeds offered 3 times his wage atm and it wasnt enough for him so we offered 9-12k per week hes worth 12k per week imo
snodgrass yes, but clayton, i'm not that fussed...i dont think he's better than what we've got and for that money, why bother...while i quite like having them as our feeder club - as the well known saying goes - too many leeds spoil the broth...
