Reports stating the PL meetings are now run by 7 clubs (us amongst them) due to the now good relations we have with the others. who the hell are Fenway going to sell Liverpool to if they can’t spend money? Same with spurs? Chelsea already owned by Saudi when you look under the bonnet.
I don't mean that .. I've been hearing all this for almost 3 years.... the reality is very different and it's that Newcastle are under the control of the Premier league and it's rules and those rules are never ever going to be helpful. Random comment on Howe... he is the king of buzz killing?..... always downplaying things, always avoiding being brave and bold about the aims, its always difficult, we don’t have the resources etc etc etc.....or is he just telling the truth ?... the day he comes out saying we're going to have a go it's on!
I agree. I think all clubs suffered from FFP this season. Hardly anyone spent money on players. And I dare say it may have contributed a little bit to the serious injury problems a lot of teams have had because they have not been able to bring in new players are add to their small squads. FFP will change and it will be for the better for all clubs. It has too or the PL will lose its appeal.
Who’s they? The PL or the big six. The PL want the exposure we and Saudi generates. They also want the world’s best players. To get them clubs have to pay for them. The Dirty half dozen however they don’t want the competition. FFP will change now. I think 85% of your turnover on average over a 3 year period would be fine. With a tax levy on anything over this of say 30-40%.
Bottom 10 clubs will surely benefit long term cos they will get more money themselves on the trickle down.
The other part of this is the money not filtering down the system Say Arsenal sign Toney, Brentford could easy go sign a championship striker for decent money, they then sign a lower championship striker and so on.
Indeed. That’s the way it works. Clubs like Brentford and Brighton need the high player sale turnaround for to maintain their status. The world’s richest football club shouldn’t have to sell its best players to compete. That’s just backwards.
It won't change away from favouring the established. It's exactly what I'm saying.. they can change % as much as they like. The new rules impact Newcastle badly in comparison to other clubs.... Everton were better off so were all the big... some financial expert did a report.
Unfortunately that is how it is and that's not going to change mate even if the psr rules are redressed. The harsh reality is Newcastle has to overcome many years of struggle before that ever changing. It's build revenues and the mountain is huge! ...there's no other way and no short cuts will go without damaging punishment. We just have to accept this.
Not without doing it within the rules though which mean it's going to be the hard long route. That's all I'm saying I'm not saying the future isn't bright.... it could have some dark times and we could end up like Everton... we can't be sure, but decisions have to be good.
The rules on third party sponsorship are key. A slackening of that could open the door to a lot of money for us
To be honest the rules on that still allow us to grow our commercial revenues. I agree it’s not on the scale of the Man City evolution and this is controlled a bit. But ultimately we have already grown our commercial income massively and that’s with the restrictions in place. I like slow progression as well. With a bit of inflation.
