Interesting... I do wonder they may propose a 10% room for maneuver which will come at cost rather than deductions. It would make **** all difference in the grand scheme of things , but in times of need clubs would like the facility being there.
Have a gander at this...... Bare in mind this doesn't show Adidas or CL money (have a feeling its not SELA either) which will pump us up to £100m in commercial revenue. I'm going to guess the fan zone will add between £5m - £10m per year too. Burn and Trippier both signed 2 and a half year deals initially so they're amortisation drops off in summer. Maxi is off that list now and Wilson's and Almiron's Amortisation drops off that list this summer so we're saving us about £22 - £25m Barnes, Tonali and Tino will need to be added. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68713522
Apparently 17 of the 20 clubs are thought to favour significant change from the current points deduction system. Fourteen clubs would need to be in agreement to get a rule change through.
Surely it depends on exactly what the propsed change is though. It seems a bit unclear from the various media reports today. So not sure how they can say 17 clubs are in favour (aside from favouring the general principle of implementing change).
My guess is the 17 are everyone other than Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal would be my guess. I think Us, Villa, Wolves, Palace, Chelsea, Burnley were literally on the line in Jan. Everton and Forrest failed. Something fishy is happening behind the scenes at the PL not sure if its Man City's lawyers, Leicester's, Forrest's or Everton's but somebody has rattled them. We literally had them by the ****ing balls for the competitions court, and we let them off. Make no mistake, they made a deal that if Saudi helped by paying off BeIN sports they'd wave it through to save face as too many questions would be asked if they didn't. My guess is we could prove without doubt cartel behaviour had taken place and it threatened to bring the house down. Wouldn't be surprised one bit if Di Marco hasn't used this again with Leicester.
The problem is that whenever they invent a new rule it gets worse and not better for clubs like ours. Time will tell, but I don't expect any change will help Newcastle much at all. Voting for Newcastle to be able to spend money would be like Turkeys voting for Christmas, so we're eternally doomed on that front.
You'd need 14 mate ...not going to happen. Not many clubs want to compete. A change might happen, but it won't favour them.
Exactly and they don't want there being a big 7 or a 8 making staying up more difficult.... then there's the already big 6 who don't for their obvious reasons. Newcastle have as much chance of getting a vote allowing them to spend as the Green Party in the general election.
It's a mess and my patience with it all is wearing really thin. This independent ombudsman is actually just a Rick Parry clone. Six clubs want to protect their top six places. The closest to breaking that down - Newcastle, Villa - are such a minority that whatever rules will be introduced to replace PSR will just be designed to stop anyone being able to get into the closed group. We've probably got years and years more of this before someone finds a hole to penetrate. And by that point we'll be winning the league, because six teams won't be in it anymore.
Hmmmm. Man City and Chelsea disagree with this comment. Spurs are in talks with an Emirate state regarding a takeover according to some reports. Then there is the question of how do you sell a club? Great idea whilst your winning trophies for 2 of them, not so great when you want to sell them and you realise the already small pool of people out there who could buy the club are no longer interested because they can't spend money or advertise their other businesses. You then add in Newcastle, Aston Villa, Wolves, Palace, West Ham, Everton, Forrest etc and your getting close to the threshold. Add in the likes of the non runners who have owners simply looking to make money and then its a different landscape.
They voted for these rules and they won't vote for rules that suit Newcastle. What will happen is and I believe they already have is they'll find a new system that suits them and not Newcastle. This new system frees up money for the big 6 and even clubs beneath Newcastle thus making the waters more difficult for the toon. They want to crush Newcastle.....and competition in general.
According to who? I understand there's got be a working relationship there, but nobody is there to do Newcastle any favours whatsoever. The PSR noises are purely down to points sanctions and there will be little to zero appetite for any system that is more favourable than it is Today in terms of revenue and allowances. The new rules are a going to be a monster redressed. This luxury tax won't be anything like what people think, it'll be linked onto non favourable rules and will as usual favour the clubs at the top.
