I don't like that, but few if any teams are in a position to complain, as we've all had wealthy owners at some stage. What matters is that the rules ensure that clubs are sustainable.

With a deal like that, the ideal situation would be to dictate that the sponsorship must last at least as long as the longest player contract on your books, stipulating that otherwise that money can't be counted. That's not going to happen now, but I think it will happen a few years down the line, once a club has gone belly up in the aftermath of that sort of deal.

Churned my through a fair amount of info , I dont think think its gonna impact watford too much, as long as our player sales backs up the attendances we will be okay, cost of ground renovations are not included ,etc I think there are a lot of loopholes for clubs with money to cheat their way through it ,intheory not a bad idea but it will be interesting to see how they are legally going to police it!

The smartest thing about this is that it massively reduces the incentive for relegated Premier League clubs to gamble spending Premier League money on trying to get back up, as we did with the likes of Ellington and McAnuff. If clubs in that position fail, they're done for, and if they succeed it will cost them a massive slice of the following year's TV money, meaning they will most likely come back down the following year anyway.
