Still a great Keeper especially for this league! Look at Friedel still playing at 40 He would be great to have around the place, honestly Hoppers Jusi would be a fantastic signing!
We all want to see younger players brought in but I wouldn't say no to Jussi. An experienced 'keeper could help out a young defence enormously.
exactly San Diego! An excellent keeper will command his defenders and will also be a hugely influential with the youngsters!
I've always like Kevin Davies and admired him as a player and actually think we could do with a player like him in the team but like Bleakers said I would imagine wages could be a problem and he isn't exactly young but i could see the benefit of having him in the team, especially a character like that. We could quite easily go from one extreme to the other next season where we suddenly have no experienced players!! Lancs I still don't really know what your argument is on the scouts. Like I've said the more scouts we have the better, obviously Jewell has to have the final say but a good coach doesn't neccessarily make a good scout. I'm sure they are used quite alot and i'm not sure what you mean but Keane did but Jewell hasn't?? JWM is was actually thinking about that today, because I noticed he's not been getting in the team this season. I think he's a decent keeper and certainly wouldn't rule out an experienced keeper at the back, especially if we are going to go for a young defence.
Thought the reason Jussis not been in the team has been through injury. This thread sums up the dilemma at ipswich and in (i think) all our fans mentality's. We just need to remember that before we had MEs millions and were forced to live within our means we progressed a lot better then we have been since he came in. Im not convinced we need to spend a lot of money this summer, The right players in the right places especially in defence would be beneficial but the worst thing to do would be to assume we need a whole new team once again How do people think this team would manage ALB (Despite slip ups and wouldnt be my first choice wouldnt be a disastrous keeper) - Edwards (Good attacking full back, players player of the year and 2nd place in fans, adds some experience to the team, if not the defence) - Smith (promising yound defender that has begun to show what he can do) Delany (As i admit, problem area) Cresswell (no more explanation needed, been fantastic throughout season) - JET - if we can keep him playing as he has done can be a real threat and add some real danger Hyam - has the plaudits of all the fans, hopefully he can learn some discipline to win over Jewell /Stevenson - adds some age to the midfield, but cant comment further than that Drury - Seems to have that fire in his belly and a creative spark Carson - seems he needs to get his head down but his potential and danger has been well documented Chopra - an experianced finisher to lead the line Martin - Has looked very dangerous since converting to this role Proper experience would be lacking but as is regularly mentioned, how else do players get the experience. If we can get an experienced head in the net and/or in central defence and although i wouldnt expect that team to win anything i'd feel confident it will have us challenging in the right half of the table
PTC - we have to pay good wages to the scouts you know, so obviously not the more the merrier, particularly when Jewell has not used them to sign a player once so far, it's been money down the pan. Simples.
True Lancs but I feel it's worth a fair amount of investment and it takes time for managers to get the networks they want in place.
