Fifa scandal: Large cash sums frozen by Switzerland please log in to view this image Millions of Swiss francs in bank accounts belonging to world soccer's governing body Fifa have been frozen, the Swiss justice ministry has said. US officials believe "corruption money" may have been transited through the frozen accounts, the ministry said. Between 50m and 100m Swiss francs ($50.1m-100.2m; £34m-£67m) has been frozen, media reports say. Meanwhile, suspended Fifa President Sepp Blatter is appearing before the organisation's ethics committee. Mr Blatter, who is due to depart from Fifa on 26 February when his successor will be elected, arrived at the governing body's headquarters in Zurich in a chauffeur-driven car accompanied by one of his lawyers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-35119240
This press conference is unbelievable. He's compared himself to Nelson Mandela, told everybody he feels sorry for himself and genuinely believes he's done nothing wrong.
The King is Dead. Long Live the King........ whoever the next one is. I wont miss Platini either. Good riddance to both. Can see Septic Bladder being dead before the 8 years is up. I'll be back ? yes of course you will - NOT.!!! The one thing Bladder did say that I can well believe is that """"FIFA IS WORKING WELL""". So that must be the worlds largest money laundering operation then ? Allegedly.
I just saw this advert on Eurosport and it amused me (even more so because it was posted to youtube prior to the investigation).
The consigliere gets nine years but the capo di tutti capi (boss of all bosses) Blatter gets less than that.
Blatter was at the top for many a year and will no doubt have cronies of a lesser status dotted around this organisation, he will still have influence through unnamed persons who have been on Blatter's side for all of those years and maybe whilst not holding office of importance will still be a source of irritancies to Blatter's successors, unless they are routed out as well.
It looks like FIFA have screwed up and accidentally posted the Ballon d'Or winner a week early. They've deleted it, but not until a few thousand people had seen it. It's Messi.
FIFA Media @fifamedia This afternoon, a story 1st posted online in November (false then too) has resurfaced. The winners of the #BallondOr have NOT been leaked.
It seems the penny has finally dropped, Platini has just announced that whatever happens, he will not be standing in the FIFA presidential election.
Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini set to appeal against Fifa suspensions Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini will be able to proceed with appeals against their eight-year bans after Fifa’s ethics committee provided them with the full written reasons for their suspensions, with the latter expected to begin his appeal on Monday http://gu.com/p/4fkbx?
