Not really. Im basing Plymouth will fail based on the fixtures of yours, Oxfords and Portsmouth. I believe Portsmouth will win more than 6 points than you will by the end of the season. Im also predicting that Oxford will win at least 1 more point than you by the end of the season. The reason why im basing Portsmouth over us to catch you is because of the 2 games that Portsmouth have won against us this season. I am not basing it on "what I want to see". If I was, then I certainly be predicting us and not Portsmouth for the top 3. Now taking into consideration of todays results, I seem to be right about Plymouth and wrong about Portsmouth. But I still predict Portsmouth will still finish above you. I predict you will get 15 points MAX from the remaining games. I predict Oxford will get a MINIMUM 20 points from the remaining games. I predict Portsmouth will get a MINIMUM 20 points from the remaining games. I predict Rovers will get a MINIMUM 18 points from the remaining games. But I could be wrong. I had Portsmouth to win today but they didnt! I knew today was going to be tough for both you and Oxford which seemed to be the case.
Hope so I think your new signing from Stoke will keep you up. Good signing me thinks. Rotherham did well today coming back from 3-0 down. I really do think Warnock will save them. But you may just be lucky that there are still 3 worse clubs than yourself due to the new signing from Stoke I still think Rotherham will finish higher than you
I will watch your points predictions with interest Captain Jack and come back to you at a later date.
I really can't call the final positions as being a Gashead means you tend to veer from over optimistic confidence to grinding pessimism but one thing today's results have done is blow the race for 2nd and 3rd wide open. It will be a very interesting run in.
Please do. When you do though, dont look at the bottom of my comment to show I edited it to make me look like I was right
That was my point about predicting what you want to see rather than anything else Captain Jack. I'm like you lot, I veer from eternal optimism to complete despair. Probably most fans in the lower reaches do that. Truth is it's all far too difficult to predict. If things were certain then there wouldn't be bookies as they would be out of business in no time. The promotion places were always going to be wide open pretty much to the end. They nearly always are as somebody falls away and another goes on a run from nowhere. In your original post that I responded to I will bet that you never ever gave it a thought that Pompey would lose today did you? I didn't expect it and frankly neither did the Pompey fans or team or Manager. Doing a prediction is like having a bet at Cheltenham. You pick one on what you think is the right form. However, at that meeting they are all trying so the result is never that predictable or cut and dried. All you can do is hope your selection is the right one. I will watch for amendments now you have pointed out you cannot be trusted......
My comment at post 21, the last line what I thought on the Pompey game yesterday. But things can change. I didnt know Portsmouth had a man sent off. Gary Roberts who is in my opinion their best player. He will be missing in their next game now so that could effect their chances in that game. Good news for us thought that Plymouth, Wimbledon, Orient and Portsmouth all had a man sent off. Great news
When I made these predictions, all 4 teams had 10 games left. So far... Plymouth: Played 1. 0 points. Oxford: Played 2. 6 points. Portsmouth: Played 1. 1 point. Rovers: Played 1. 3 points.
I said in an earlier post that my head said Portsmouth in 3rd with us and Plymouth contesting the final , While my heart said Rovers 3rd and Plymouth v Portsmouth playoff final. After todays results maybe I Should listen to my heart rather than my head. I believe that by the end of the fixtures on sat 3rd of April we might all have a better idea of the top 3 places
This is the first time this season that I've really looked at automatic promotion as a target or indeed a possibility, but I think we might have a chance of doing it now. Interesting how lots of us seem to think Pompey will at the very least reach the FINAL of the play-offs. They might do, but are these predictions based on the club's size compared to a side such as Accrington?
We have 9 games left now, 5 at home and 4 away. From our home games, I reckon we should beat Cambridge, Crawley, Yeovil, and Dagenham. I have given Exeter the benefit of the doubt and allowed them to sneak a point when they visit us, plus we all know how unpredictable Rovers can be! 13 points from possible 15. From our away games, I expect us to draw at Carlisle, lose to an O'Toole goal at Northampton (the scruffy git! ), win at Stevenage and scrape a win at York ( hopefully they will have nothing left to play for by then and couldn't give a toss ). 7 points from possible 12. This would give us 20 points from a possible 27, leaving us on 85 points. Will 85 points be enough to secure 3rd spot ? My heart says yes looking at other team's fixtures, but ......................................................!! (There's always a BUT with us! )
I think we will get 18 points minimum. We dont seem to draw too many. So I think we will win 3 at home vs Crawley, Yeovil & Dag & Red. And win away at Carlisle, Stevenage & York. 18 points from them. If we can get points from the other games then great
When I made these predictions, all 4 teams had 10 games left. So far... Plymouth: Played 2. 3 points. Oxford: Played 3. 7 points. Portsmouth: Played 2. 4 points. Rovers: Played 2. 6 points. So far so good greeny
