BlimeyIt really is, just one shot of a bloke driving a car. I did like it though.
True it isn't a masterpiece but it is the finest example of solo acting in the modern era imo. Few actors are brave enough to take on such a role. The Guilty was meant to be in the same style but Gyllenhal needed a supporting cast and a bunch of 'scene' shots overlayed on his character to get himself through the film. Hardy is a different league.
I'd give that a 2/10.
Unbelievably bad script, horrifically cast, appalling acting, one of the dumbest storylines I've ever seen.
M. Night is comfortably one of the most overrated directors in the world. Showed so much promise with 6th Sense, The Village and Unbreakable but it all went to pot after that. Mcavoy and Taylor-Joy carried him through Split with brilliant performances, then Glass was just plain ****e. So were The Visit, After Earth and Old.
Half way through Squid Game. Enjoying it, but worried that the ending will be ****.
Really? I thought the story was excellent. One of the few films I couldn't see the twist coming and it hit like a tonne of bricks when it did.
As for the "set", well it's mainly a bloke sat at a desk on the phone and that's kind of the entire point of the film. Unless you didn't like the colour of his chair?
But yeah, agreed about Gyllenhaal. There's a limit to how many times he can play 'brooding, slightly emotionally disturbed man with anger issues who achieves redemption'.
