Rewatched Stand By Me 8.2/10 still a very good film. I then wondered what happened to Corey Feldman? That's a ****ing rabbitt hole.
Got bummed then tried to sell the exclusive via a crowdfunder and no one bought it.

The end

Great film.

He was in some classics tbf - SBM, The Goonies, The Burbs, The Lost Boys, think he was in Gremlins too.

Just watched the documentary on the real life story of Brinks Matt on BBC1.

Pleasantly surprised how accurate The Gold series was to actual events.

What's incredible is the repercussions of the robbery for the gold and the money made and laundered. It was pretty much a seminal moment in UK crime.

The millions made from it funded the development of the Docklands, it created the Timeshare scams in Spain, and literally kickstarted the import of Ecstasy into the UK from America and the rave scene <laugh>

There were no money laundering requirements by any banks prior to Brinks Mat. So the blokes who done it funnelled £10 million through a local branch, withdrawing £200k to £400k at a time. The branch manager (I think it was Barclays) kept asking Head Office what they should do, and they were told as long as they weren't exposed to any losses, to keep doing it bcos they were earning huge commission lol. They had to get special consignments of bank notes specifically for that branch to pay the large sums of money out <laugh> And those special notes had a serial number that was not issued anywhere else so once the cops found out about this branch and learn about these notes they were able to follow the trail of money all over the world as it was laundered. It was after this that money laundering rules came in for banks.

As for the gold, that was melted down and sold on the legitimate gold market, a lot of it being sold back to the people they robbed it from <laugh> Half of it is still unaccounted for. And they say if you bought any gold or gold jewellery since the mid 1980's chances are it has Brinks Mat gold in it.

Operation Fortune 7.8/10

Latest Guy Ritchie film. Nowhere near his best work but still a thoroughly enjoyable romp.

Hugh Grant very good. Josh Hartnett surprisingly good, plays the hollywood star out of his depth very well. Jason Statham being errr Jason Statham.
