Sounds bit like la haineI did actually
3 arab brothers in the middle of a Paris ghetto uprising after their 4th brother gets killed by the polis. One's a police officer, one's a gang leader (who's leading it) and one's a drug/illegal arms dealer.
It's very good.
seriously recommend the original Assault on Precinct 13 .I struggle to watch old movies tbh.
So probably wont do that one tbh![]()

years since i saw it , prob on C4 , and iirc it is very good .I still haven't see that. One I'm going to find.
Blonde 8.8/10
Not even halfway. Pussy.Bloody hell mate that was a hard fcking watch.
Switched it off after 1 hour 20 mins.
Not even halfway. Pussy.
I thought it was a superb film, great performance from De Armis. I get why it's not for everyone, I'd have given a bit more detail on my rating if you had asked. Dark film very arty but worth the investment if you're up for something like that but you have to be in the mood for it no doubt. Dominik pulls out every trick in the book as it goes on superbly directed.
Yeah the points you make are valid and what I liked about it. The lack of story and slow direction heading towards her ultimate demise are a difficult watch. It's no fairy tale rise and fall, it's abuse from the start and the male viewpoint on women is held up and frankly embarrassing.De Armis is good. I was going to say that I've watched a few bio films recently - Mercury, Elvis, now Marilyn and I have to say, all the actors have really put in fine performances.
But the film mate, nah, it's dry as fck and very very difficult to get into. And utterly depressing. The direction is all over the place imo, there's no story telling.
And tbh seeing Marilyn getting bent over a table and raped by some director in the opening scenes is not what I want to see. I know she was used and abused, but no!

Some of the scenes where she is trying to escape her persona as it goes on are superb but you missed that.
I don't think it's an accurate account, based on a novel I think but then again the novel is based on a lot of facts from reports and accounts from people who were around her at the time, it's not fiction. I'd urge you to watch again this time knowing what you're going into and when you're in the mood to just sit and take it all in.Yeh it's harrowing all the way. Even that bit when she's on the phone (to her agent?) and says she needs help. And he asks if she's on her period. Fcking hell
I did question how much was accurate.
I never knew about the two blokes (Chaplin's son?) and how public it was. I'm amazed that wasn't mainstream news.
That becomes more intense as it goes on.No I got that. The fact she saw Marilyn Monroe as a character on the screen, it wasn't her. And her almost loathing of that person. That was made pretty clear tbf.

Yes, it's bleak from the start and just gets worse. Not fun viewing, it needs some kind of viewer warning before you start. I like a serious film on a Sunday night and loved it, well hated it as well but it's a superb film imo. Dominik pulls no punches and he's getting slated for it but **** it stand up and be counted, he made a film that doesn't fit the modern day narrative and that makes accusations. Some people are going to have to live with that.I think the thing about it was how utterly hopeless it was. I mean there was literally no light at the end of the tunnel. Like you said, from the start the damage was done. Even before her stardom she was broken, needed help and with all her psychological problems 1950's Hollywood was probably the worst thing that could've happened to her.
Oscar incoming maybe.Amazing actress though. Often gets overlooked.
I think my point stands. De Armis will be nominated and in another world perhaps there would have been a different life. Lol though yeah.I was talking about Marilyn Monroe![]()
