Tried the book many times. The writing style for me is Too dated and descriptive so I've never got past 20 pages before giving up again.

The Flims are class

I read them when tv only had 3 channels so every book was excellent back then dude.....imagination was key......think they call it head space these days lol

This Lord of the Rings thing isn't worth the hype, it isn't bad like but for the reported money spent you'd expect more.

It's moving a bit too slowly for my liking but I think it recaptures the fantasy and magic of the original trilogy far more than the Hobbit trilogy ****e did. Casting is pretty solid too - I actually care about the character development rather than wanting them to be killed off asap.

Will stick with it I think.

The issue is the original trilogy set the bar so ridiculously high in every category, it is an impossible act to follow.

The only bit ive not enjoyed sofar was the irish hobbits and the tall meteor man parts, too slow during those bits

It's a slow build but I'm enjoying it - I know where some of the strands are headed ... but haven't a clue who meteor man is ... or will turn out to be .. <laugh>

I agree, it's not terrible but still a little slow considering the hype, as long as it eventually delivers then fine.

Our Friends In The North.

Never seen it before. Tremendous 9.5/10

Superb cast. Daniel Craig's finest performance bar none.

Better deliver. Saying it's slow is an understatement at the moment. Wanna see some big **** off Orcs battles.

At least these orcs ain't that CGI **** in The Hobbit movies though and are back to the ones like in LOTR, prosthetic ones are way better.

Thirteen Lives - 9.1

Brilliant.

I’d briefly read up about it a year or two back but must have missed some of the stuff involving the actual rescue, just incredible what they had to do.

When I saw how long it was I thought it would be a slow film. Then as I watched, they get right into the disaster which I wasn't expecting. So I'm thinking, how are they going to fill the next couple of hours. But the events and how much was involved in getting them out, made it a tremendous watch.

Btw when they enter the tunnel and the rains come and they can see the water dripping down through the rocks. If that was me, I'd be saying - lads is this not fcking worrying anyone, lets gtfo of here now.

Was going to ask if this was the one about the team stuck in the tunnels, you've just answered that.

I had the exact same thoughts about the length of it and it’s probably why I put it off for a while but there’s not a single moment where I was bored or uninterested. Didn’t even feel like 2 and half hours either when done. Easily one of the best films I’ve seen in the last couple years.
