I bought one at a local auction for £5 and had it up for a while. I sort of wanted a change so put it on Ebay and got £more!

On ITV2 tonight is the film Bridesmaids. It's a girly film and I accompanied my wife to see it at the pictures a few years back. The cinema was full of cackkling women but to my surprise there were a few other blokes. Well I have to say it was hilarious, the women were so lewd and funny, I had tears running down my cheeks. Worth a watch imo.

Has anyone watched the TV series Queen's Gambit? I watched the first episode over the weekend and wasn't that impressed - but gave it another go this afternoon as it was raining and watched the second episode. I nearly fell off my chair when I spotted my German nephew in it - playing the part of one of the experienced tournament players who loses to the young self-taught lead girl.

Now I'm cranky because no-one in the family mentioned it to me...

Just finished watching this - Box 21. For lovers of Nordic Noir - all about sex trafficking, set in Sweden and Romania. Some English language, some Swedish & Romanian with subtitles - not to mention an ending that took me by surprise.

Watched it all yesterday. Was ok, bit silly at times and they had to Americanise chess into a silly battle game rather than a mix of tactics/intuition.

Been trawling our way through Silent Witness on the iPlayer. When it started out I had a bit of a crush on Amanda Burton. We saw a more recent episode and decided to give the last series a whirl... then went back to S16... now starting at 8 which is the series that Emelia Fox joins the cast. Addictive.
Tommy with Edie Falcao is quite decent too.

Are the Americans remaking it based on ‘checkers’, then?

<laugh> Not that bad, but one of the characters is a wannabe Crocodile Dundee that's barely hit puberty

If you haven't seen the film Fargo (came out ages ago) I'd give it a watch, as they've made a series set in the same part of the world. Been going on for a while and only recently watched it all, it's very entertaining.

3 seasons on Amazon Prime, think they have the first 2 on Netflix too.

Watched 'My Octopus Teacher' on Netflix earlier, probably the best film/documentary I've seen in years.

mmm.... look interesting..... we finally saw and enjoyed something of a similar vein this week.. The Shape of Water

Last night watched this powerful simple film about German POWS forced to do mine clearances in Denmark after WW2. A real insight into the strength of feelings..... and human sentiment...still available on BBC iplayer

Just watched the first episode of the first series of ‘The League of Gentlemen’ with young Seb. His jaw hit the floor several times. I had forgotten how bloody funny it was. Laughter track the only downside.

I could never take to that - I guess you have to be English to appreciate the humour?

Meanwhile, I'm approaching the end of the twelfth and final series of NYPD Blue - I guess you have to be Scottish or Australian to find it as humourous as I do...
