I'm trying to work out if you are joking. Moore was appalling, as was Brosnan - it's not a ****ing comedy. The most underrated is Dalton - by a stretch the best actor to have played the role, and the only one who plays Bond as he is in the books, followed by Craig, then Connery.
No, Bond just meant something different to me. Bond films are utterly ludicrous, plotwise, and I grew up with a Bond who didn't take himself, or the job, too seriously, he was a clown. thats why I think he worked for me. Dalton was a great actor, but took himself far too seriously. Brosnan rode a great line between serious and quippy, that I liked (shame his films sucked). Craig is just a tool. Bond is not serious to me. Maybe its why i like Archer and Austen powers so much
I think, if I viewed them like that, I'd never watch another one. They aren't funny enough to be spoofs, so you have to buy into them to get anything at all.
Hated it. Worst of the three. Goldmember was slightly better than Spy, but the first one is by far the best for me
Must admit, as Roger Moore got older it was a little bit of a stretch all these hot young ladies wanting to jump in his bed. Not his fault he got older, but they probably could have use more common sense in the writing instead of pretending he wasn't a wrinkly old prune.
Yeah, I felt cheated by the second one. It was just a rehash of all the exact same jokes from the first one done not as well. Heather Graham looked good in it though.
Oh they are. Octopussy is hilarious. When he sits up in that body bag and scares those guys "NICHA KAROSKA!! MOOOOOOOOOJJ!" and they run off. Or "double six, fancy that" without even looking at the dice. or the scene is Moonraker where he is on the clay pigeon shooting range with the baddie, who has paid a sniper to sit in the trees across the field and take Bond out. The Clay releases and Bond shoots, and the Clay stays intact....the bad guy laughs and says "You missed, Mr Bond", to which Moore replies "Did I?" and it cuts to the snipers dead body falling out of the tree ****ing hilarious!!
If you want a rehash, try watching Airplane (brilliant) and Airplane 2 - almost exactly the same jokes.
I'm always shocked when I remember Octopussy was written by one of my favourite authors (George MacDonald Fraser - the Flashman author). I don't see his hand in it at all.
All three leading ladies were hot in Austin Powers movies. Hurley is very nice on the eyes but I've never been convinced with her as an actress.
Indeed Which red blooded heterosexual male wouldn't find this attractive?! please log in to view this image
Regarding Bond as a "spoof", I don't view it as such, but I see it as something light-hearted and fantastical. To me it's all about silly obscene stunts some good action (hopefully a decent story) and the occasional laugh to lighten the mood. I wouldn't classify it as a comedy. More an action flick with moments of humour.
