Alex Guinness is the quintessential Smiley for me. I still watch the BBC dvd of Tinker, Tailor...

If I was invited on Desert Island Discs (which I won't be) my book choice would be the entire set of John le Carré books (which wouldn't be allowed), so I'd tell'em to bugger off :emoticon-0100-smile

Little Drummer Girl is a mini-series coming out in November. It's directed by Chan-Wook Park who was behind Oldboy so I have high expectations.

I'd be astonished if you're disappointed.

I’ve not seen it, but when Cage can be arsed he’s a ****ing good actor. Trouble is he obviously hasn’t given a **** since about Leaving Las Vegas.

It's not really about him not giving a ****, it's more about the fact he's been in a ****ton of debt to the IRS for years and he'll take as many paydays as he can to clear it.

He's done many films he cares about, but ****ing hell Mandy is definitely at the top.

Finally watched the Godfather 1 and 2 over the last couple of weeks. Exceptional films with the acting of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino at the highest level. Loved seeing the character development of Michael from been an outsider to the ruthless don of the family business. Enjoyed both but would rank the 1st film as the better one though not by much. Heard lots of negative reviews for it, but would anyone recommend watching Part 3?

Agree with you on the first one being the better film - though both are still exceptional.

I am probably in a minority who doesn't mind Part III, but it is lightyears below the quality of the first two.

It finishes the story, but you don't really need the story finishing. Part II's ending is superb.

I learned very recently that Cage is the nephew or the son of a major Hollywood big wig, which says a lot doesn't it. Nepotism is alive and strong in movie land.

    Hellfire.

    Kind of extremely lucky/extremely misfortunate.

The Godfather, like music, actually had a big impact on me as a teenager. Helped refine/expand mod influences.

I can see it now. Riding down to Brighton, looking sharp, making people offers they can't refuse and somehow leaving massive horse heads in beds without walking folk up...

(Not a film but) Watching Vikings on Amazon (latest series). Always forget about this show but it's consistently good, they create a really authentic atmosphere.

I watched the final episode of the last series of Luther. Really enjoyed the series, though I thought the finale was a tad abrupt.

Been enjoying The Gifted, an X-Men spinoff, if you like your comic book lore it's decent enough.

The final season of Gotham is up and running and it hasn't disappointed so far. Nice touch with Mummer and the nod to Mother and Orphan.

Me and the missus turned it off after about 30-40 mins. Done that to a few films lately instead of sticking with them as per usual.
