Just watched Denial - Timothy Spall as David Irving and Tom Wilkinson playing Richard Rampton QC were both excellent.
Waiting for it to come up here(couple of weeks). We have a lovely old cinema which serves tea and sausage rolls among other things. Smallish screen but great relaxed atmosphere.
Hidden Figures is a great fim and worth a viewing. As the United States raced against Russia to put a man in space, NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history. Based on the unbelievably true life stories of three of these women, known as "human computers", we follow these women as they quickly rose the ranks of NASA alongside many of history's greatest minds specifically tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return. Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson crossed all gender, race, and professional lines while their brilliance and desire to dream big, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race, firmly cemented them in U.S. history as true American heroes. went to see La La Land based on all the good reviews that it has been getting. was very disappointed. the words "insubstantial" and "formulaic" come to mind.
I thought it was good. And not quite sure how it's 'formulaic' when it doesn't follow a standard love-story formula. Interesting for me is the way it's described across the board as a musical. It's really not, it's a film with a few songs in it. I didn't count but there must be 5 max.
I agree with this. If you go thinking it will be like Singing in the Rain then you'll obviously be dissapointed. But as a film with a few songs in it i liked it, plus the main melody that runs through it really gets in your head.
If I had thought it would be like Singing in the Rain it would have been nigh on impossible to drag me to the cinema. Musicals are not my thing -- there are at most 3 or 4 that I have actually enjoyed. I knew the premise from the reviews and it didn't live up to my expectations.
I thought it was ace. Your daughter and Oregon have hearts of stone! I saw it last Thursday and I still have that "City of Stars" earworm in my head. Not even swearing at Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas could shift it.
Just finally watched "sing street " I absolutely ****ing loved it.. Very funny... it was like being back in the 80s.... cannot remember who recommended it, I'm old and ****ing forgetful see....who ever it was. thanks..Brilliant!!!!.
Have you watched, Tarzan? We were very pleasantly surprised by it. First 20 mins (or so) setting the scene' then sit back and take ut all in. Fantastic fun.
Yes seen it... certainly a lot better than some of the others.... I cannot understand why "sing street" didn't get more publicity, its brilliant. It's on Netflix now for anyone that's not seen it... best hour and three quarters I've used for a while..... well done fez!!!
Get an Amazon Firestick Red, download Kodi onto it, it's dead easy and it's faaaaaar better than Netflix or downloading from a PC, and it's all free
