That's a great one, and is completely out of nowhere.

The ending to Brazil is great and depressing as Hell at the same time.

I really liked the clever way Nicolas Roeg used the colour red in most of the scenes. I reckon Spielberg copied the idea in Schindler's List.

It could've been inspiration, but I'm not personally sure.

After that, at the very very end, when the girl is putting flowers on the grave is an excellent ending.

One of my all time favourites but The Dark Knight has a great ending; Gary Oldman delivers the perfect final line.

Because he targeted an audience with a low iq or have a simple and obvious sense of humour. If you've ever watched extras, there's a scene where Ricky Gervais makes a stand about how lowbrow his sitcom has become and how it's littered with pointless catchphrases. It cuts to the audience and they're all wearing t-shirts with things like "garlic bread" and other **** catchphrases. It's those kinds of people it's aimed at.

The "tears in the rain" line was improvised by Rutger Hauer.

A couple of my favourite endings

    Local Hero
    Excalibur
