Steven Gerrard's Ballon d'Or voting - 1. Messi 2. Ronaldo 3. Xabi Alonso. Daniel Agger 1. Pirlo 2. Iniesta 3. Messi Martin Skrtel 1. Ronaldo 2. Messi 3. Falcao
I think the reason Van Persie was left out was because of how bad the whole Dutch team were in the Euros. Personally I think Falcao deserves to be in the team but I would have Buffon in goal and Alba left back and im not sure about Alonso, Pirlo has had a great year and Schweinsteiger would be another one that deserves a shout. Theese world elevens are very subjective though and you never please everyone.
â¢Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) â¢Sergio Ramos (Real Mad) â¢Gerard Pique (Barcelona) â¢Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) â¢Ashley Cole (Chelsea) - By ****ing miles â¢Pirlo (Juventus) â¢Yaya Toure (Manchester City) â¢Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) â¢Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) â¢Robin Van Persie (Manchester United) â¢Lionel Messi (Barcelona) This is my team of the year. I Have highlighted all the premier league players in red. And Pirlo representing the Italian league in blue.

Agree that half the world 11 is there on past merit or reputation rather than actual ability and form...but can we please get some serious suggestions for replacements? Not Vincent 'sicknote' Kompany, Ashley 'Baines is better than me' Cole or Yaya 'most over rated midfielder in the premiership' Toure! Buffon had an outstanding season and should have been in ahead of Casillas as too could Neuer who had a great season for Bayern. Lahm far outclasses Alves. Chiellini and Hummels over Pique and Ramos. Not sure on LB, sure Cole is better than Marcelo, but I rate Baines far higher than Cole lately. Pirlo over Alonso. ------------Buffon-------------- Lahm--Chiellini--Hummels--Baines(penciled in) -------Pirlo--Xavi--Iniesta------- ----Ronaldo---Falcao---Messi---- Lacks steel in midfield, I consider Busquets and Schweinsteiger over Xavi, but whatever... RVP is unfortunate not to be included.
As established higher up, this is voted for by 50,000+ professional footballers, how many of them sit and watch majority of the games? How many have voted based on reputation? I watch a lot of football but I couldn't honestly tell you who should or shouldn't be in a world eleven because I only watch the English teams (obviously catch a few foreign teams in the CL & EL), basically, majority of votes WILL be based on reputation and media perception
Rvp has not been massive in the CL cos of Arsenal and a lot of players get seen there and voted on, international too and he didn't light up that stage last tourney either, because of those reasons, so he may be in next year if he continues as he's been playing and United do well in the CL
Stevie G voted as England captain, his choices were 1, Messi, 2, Ronaldo, 3, Alonso. Wesley Sneider had RVP as his number 1 ahead of Messi and Ronaldo. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11096/8386090/Ballot-box-opened
