Yeah I was sort of offered a roaming role that would have started in the States and probably moved on to Australia. Our daughter was very young and it didn't seem the right time for it. I think Bill Clinton was still President then so we'd have been there just in time for 9-11.

You see this sort of thing is dangerous.

Think what you like about AI but the issue is constitutional. The individual states seem to have the right to legislate as they see fit, but without any democratic oversight in Congress, Trump is just taking this power unto himself by issuing a Presidential diktat.

He can say what he likes about the UK and other European states but our Prime Minister could not do this without Parliamentary approval.

With Trump literally wanting to know visitors life history before letting them into the country.....and then FIFA expecting you to mortgage your home to watch the football....there is a good chance that real football fans will sit at home and watch on the telly instead.

We seem to have moved beyond the brown envelope brigade into the age of cabin trunks required to hold the backhanders now being shovelled out.

Of course we have been told for years that everything is bigger and better in the States.....never more than now.

PS.....not sure about the "better" bit.

FIFA have introduced a small number of "more affordable" £45 tickets for all 104 matches at the 2026 World Cup following criticism of its pricing structure for the tournament.

These tickets will be available to a certain number of "loyal fans" of the countries that have qualified for the World Cup.

BBC Sports News.

The USA travel ban is now covering 19 countries......five more added today.

Amongst them are Iran and Haiti....both in the World Cup Finals.

Will their fans be banned from entering the States....assuming that their team is based in the USA......and if they are what will FIFA do about it.....take away Trumps Peace Award....????

FIFA are being blamed for fans having to pay more for this summers World Cup travel in the States.

Eight matches will be played at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey......the cost of transferring from the New York Penn Station (30 minute journey) will cost a 100 dollars (£73.80) return.....the normal cost for the journey is 12.90 dollars (£9.50).

PS........A later post suggests that the fare is actually 150 dollars...(£111.00) for the return trip.

Any national team OR supporter who turns up for this farce deserves everything that happens. Withdraw at the 11th hour and leave them with the bill.

Panini World Cup stickers have jumped on the get rich quick FIFA bandwagon.

Stickers will cost £1.25 for a pack of seven cards........it might be possible to get a full set of players in as little as 140 packets which is £175.00.

More realistically you might need a 1000 packs which would cost you well over a £1000.00.....if bought.......this is where the swapping your spare stickers really takes off to obviously try not to have to mortgage your home......or mummy and daddy's home.

48 nations competing.....there will be 980 unique stickers.....including 68 "special" ones to fill the 112 page album.

BBC News have worked out that an England supporter would need to pay £6,500 to follow their team through the group stage.

I've got this feeling that we're not going to do that well.....I look at Englands possible squad and wonder what has happened to all the players that I would associate with a first team going places........just doesn't seem to be a very experienced group of players.

AND SO IT GOES ON........

FIFA President Gianni Infantino's has said he will "personally bring a hot dog and a coke" to anyone who buys a World Cup Final ticket for two million dollars.

BBC News 7/5/2026.

Will the mountains of money get in the way of actually playing football.

The licking of Donald Trump's shoes of course will be taken for granted.

PRICE BACKLASH.

Prices for trains and buses to World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey have been cut following a backlash from fans.

The prices of a train ticket has been slashed from 150 dollars (£111) to 98 dollars (£73) while shuttle bus fares are down to 20 dollars (£15) from 80 dollars (£59).

Thomas Concannon...leader of the Football Supporters Association England fan group...previously criticised "astronomical" event pricing...which he described as "completely out of the norm".

Meanwhile.......Round-trip tickets from central Boston (South Station) to Boston Stadium at Foxborough usually cost 20 dollars (£15) but fans will be charged 80 dollars (£59) at the World Cup.

The prices in New Jersey and Foxborough will hit England and Scotland fans.

BBC NEWS.....13/05/2026.

Iran players are still waiting to be issued Visas for the World Cup......says Iranian FA President Medhi Taj.

At the last count the USA had issued travel bans on 19 countries.

If the war escalates....as it possibly could.....could Iran not get Visas to go the the USA ?

World Cup Squad announced.............not that strong to go very far......disappointing.
