You don't seem to understand that the World Cup represents world wide exposure which generates the demand for greater TV viewing and all that money which attracts the best players to the Premiership. The World Cup is bigger than any league. It is the mother off which all Leagues feed

I don't get it, why is it us English that always seem to moan Most premiership players are signed up on the back of either the World Cup or Euros.
It's surely the same level playing field for all countries, I think we just need to get on with it......no wonder why our national side is so crap, too busy worrying about tedious matters rather than concentrating on finding the reasons why our English players are so poor.
There is 7 years to sort out the fixtures for 2022, I just don't understand the problem, I think it's great that different parts of the world are hosting such tournaments, there are a few clubs in England whom would suffer without the finances of the rich from these countries, this also pays for the quality players in the premiership which in turn, creates the interest for the ludicrous TV deals. There surely is corruption, but sadly that's the way of the world, something that you or I are not gonna change..

Are you saying that the World Cup/players creates the interest in our Premier league.
If so, I'm sorry 1For we must agree to differ.

'There surely is corruption, but sadly that's the way of the world, something that you or I are not gonna change..'
    Totally agree.
Where we disagree is I would like that our FA pull out altogether.
You know, we all know it's criminal and we should all have the balls to say enough is enough.
1For - you're knowingly happy to turn a blind eye to their shenanigans.
    Not me mate.

    Football isn't that important.

I think world cup players definitely creates interest, not just in premiership but to all the best European teams....how else would the likes of the Brazilians, Argentinians and alike grace our game?
It's not the case of turning a blind eye, but unless we accept that money and lots of it is what keeps the premiership and alike going we might as well be resigned to watching football on the downs..
If and when City reach the dizzy heights of the premiership, do we think that Mr Lansdown will refuse the money given? Talking of which......do you think SL made his money without some kind of corruption or tax evasion etc? Of course we all could say bollocks to all professional football, but we won't!

'how else would the likes of the Brazilians, Argentinians and alike grace our game?'
    Pounds, shillings and pence.

'unless we accept that money and lots of it is what keeps the premiership and alike going we might as well be resigned to watching football on the downs'
Sorry, I do not accept the premise that awarding Qatar the WC has anything to do with the money Sky and BT pay the Premier League.

'Talking of which......do you think SL made his money without some kind of corruption or tax evasion etc?'
    No.

"Pounds, shillings and pence" Yes money, but they are normally watched on the world cup stage.

"Sorry, I do not accept the premise that awarding Qatar the WC has anything to do with the money Sky and BT pay the Premier League"

That depends on how deep and far the corruption goes, I expect we will never know!

Now I've got a Roger Waters song stuck in my head

    Can't you see
    It all makes perfect sense
    Expressed in dollars and cents
    Pounds shillings and pence
    Can't you see
    It all makes perfect sense

1For, I get the idea you think I'd miss or regret not watching England.
We both love football but honestly I'd prefer that England never play again.
Not until Blatter and co are rid forever.

If somone doesn't put there head over the parapet we'll be stuck with this situation always.

Kerry Packer, not that I agreed with all he did, took on Cricket Authority and won.
Wish someone would lead the European countries to boycott the WC.
The World Cup is nothing without Europe, and I'll bet all the South Americans would follow.

I agree Blatter is an absolute tosser and I don't think Plattini is much better but there are not many coming forward to challenge him.
But for me, the world cup has been and always will be the ultimate football tournament.
I just think there is corruption in all sports, ie Cycling, Boxing, Athletics.....just that football is enormous so the size of the corruption will equal it's popularity.
