[QUOTEIt was a hard tackle. But I think only Diaby and Barton can know if it was 'excessive force', really. And Diaby clearly thought it was.[/QUOTE]

I don't agree, its the referee's job to decide. Not Joey Barton's, not Diaby's, not Wenger's and not The Princess Royal's

The media will have you believe that Joey's on field discipline is horrendous, but his record tells a different story

And Diaby clearly thought it was

    ---------------------------------------

You elluded to it, Diaby decided to give out the punishment using his own judgement

maybe he should become a referee, he certainly won't get tackled then

"I hear he is to blame for the trouble in Cairo as well!!!! "

The very thought of Camels brings back a terrible episode in my life.

I remember going to a Christmas party many years ago. In the afternoon I'd been to the doctors with ear ache and after he'd prodded around with a cotton bud I ended up a little deaf.

Anyway at this party a rather attractive middle aged woman came up to me, and to this day I'm convinced she asked if I'd give her a kiss under the camel's toe. I was quite taken aback I can tell you as she was no slapper. I duly lifted up her dress and did as asked only to be smacked across the face and thrown out.

    Women eh.....!!

Ultimately, I think Barton's tackle was hard, and possibly a foul, but not a booking let alone a red card. Diaby who has seen a promising career blighted by challenges such as this which have caused nasty injuries, stupidly reacted.

I'm not bothered by that challenge, that's what certain players do: go in hard for every challenge possible to knock the opposition around a bit.

Some of the other refereeing, though, was appalling.
