My 3 was Kasami, Rodriguez, Ibra. It's the slow mo of Rodriguez' that is truly incredible. He actually has a look over his shoulder towards the goal as the ball is in mid air coming towards him, sees the keeper off his line, and volleys it over his head. There are a tiny number of players in the world who could do that. Hard to pick between that and Kasami's which was just an astonishing thing to do at that angle, without breaking stride.
Yeah, the Kasami goal is unreal, what I think makes Rodriguez sade it is like you say, the look, and also the fact that he's killed the ball then put pace back on it, it's a 2-in-one. All of those are stunners though, that chip in the South American is unreal tekkers as well.
I'm in a clear minority on this thread but I think RVP's header was over-rated. Flung himself at the ball, made contact, pace on it took it sailing in. Was excellent but nothing incredible imo. I see it is winning the vote though
It was special, but I'd have thst next to bottom on the list after the Jap lad, that looks a mishit and hope to me.
Just had a look through the past winners and nominations, I no longer give this 'competition' any credibility. RVP scored a technically perfect and exquisite goal against Villa in April last year and it wasn't even in the top 10. For that reason.... I'm out.
