On the plus side, looks like Blatter has quit!

Didn't see that one coming! I fully expected him to go on and on until he died in office. Let's see what it leads to. I don't see any point in boycotting the World Cup in Russia, it's the Qatar decision which is the disaster. So what if Russia gave out a few back-handers, so did South Africa and God knows who else including England. If the Qatar World Cup goes ahead with all the shocking conditions on the construction sites we're back to square one.

Did'nt see that coming either......BUT IT 'S GREAT NEWS. You have to be sober and say there's a lot more dirt to come out. But hey, gotta start somewhere.
Now we get a minor three-ring circus as the new potential presidents seek votes, and we now know that Asia and Africa have a very definate pull. I still hope Blatter gets arrested, as if not, he will linger on like a fart in a bedroom. One of the more interesting rumours I heard is that the sponsors pushed him out. Ah well, it'll be exciting times over the next month or so.

Blatter is a very wealthy man. Perhaps he would be interested in buying Charlton? He would get us into the Premiership in no time, by hook or by crook.

Pointless replacing Blatter with the likes of Quisling Platini or the Prince of Oman.

What FIFA now needs is a man of probity- a red blooded, ruddy faced Englishman with a fresh carnation in hs buttonhole and a copy of the Daily Mail under his arm.

Royston, I don't think anyone would expect FIFA to improve overnight, and certainly Platini only looked an interesting alternative given who he was up against. Blatter has'nt actually gone, and has plenty of time to sipe more money, set up a Blatter Junior figure and groom his cohorts to keep everything as it was.
The excitement here is that he's been pushed out, and that the FBI are investigating him.

As for your red blooded, ruddy faced Englishman (what other blood colours can you name?), one can see that being welcomed with open arms in Spain, France, Swaziland,.......er, maybe not?

Let the yanks have a go. They're the ones who have actually started to clean the stables (you know, those ones in Greece that Hércules tidied up, can't remember the name)

Rod Stewart only pretends to be Scottish! Anyway when you think of the expenses scandal you couldn't exactly say that English MP's are shining examples of integrity, be they Guardian or Daily Mail readers. There are only two candidates capable of sorting out FIFA- The Pope and Dot Cotton.

I certainly hope prince Ali doesn't end up in charge, most likely would be another blatter, and Jordanians are hardly known for their footballing history.

Would you want a Chinese man in charge of the ICC or an uzbeki in charge of the IRB?

No chance of an Englishman ever being elected so I wouldn't mind Luis Figo having another go.

I can think of a certain Welshman who is very well qualified for the FIFA role.

A lot of British people have worked with prince Ali and have said positive things about him.

Of corse the true test will be when he's offered millions in back handers.

If you want someone English, someone of integrity, universally trusted, there's only one man for the job, and his complexion is ruddy, to boot. I give you....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................'Onest 'Arry Redknapp!

At least we know why France voted for Blatter, they were in it up to their neck as well. And with Jack Warner about to drop Blatter in it, this is shaping up to be as juicy a scandal as Watergate.

Just what we needed. A fun topic to keep everyone angry and amused through the summer. The FBI will need to do some serious recruitment to follow this one through.

If any of you like topical news comedy shows, John Oliver has been campaigning against FIFA for quite a few years now, starting back in 2013. This is his latest sketch against them, which actually makes for hilarious viewing:
