I think he's nearly there, for sure. Would like to see him spray the ball around a bit more, but it's not his game I suppose. He's certainly got a great engine, and the Barca games showed he had great technique too. As an all round, box to box midfielder I'd agree I think, Yaya is superb and Ramires is the nearest second. In an attacking sense I might go for Van Der Vaart, Gerrard, Kagawa or even Mata in a central role though... but from deep or on the right Ramires is very good. Who would you say the best purely defensive centre mid is?
Agreed, not sure about Kagawa yet, haven't seen him play. I think we lack top quality out and out defensive midfielders in the PL, I think Lucas and Mikel (recently) are probably the best! Sandro has the potential to become amazing though.
I've seen him a few times, I really do think he'll be a big hit for them (who shall not be named). Even if he was technically poor, he's still very fast and very agile - but he is technically good. Yeh Sandro looks good, probably would have played more under any manager but 'Arry. Hoped you'd say Lucas haha! Statistically speaking he's been the best for two years now in terms of tackles won and success percentage, but you'll know all about that - he was our best player when we beat you guys in the league and cup early in the season; but without Lucas, in the FA Cup final you walked through our midfield. Mikel is decent, don't think he's living up to the cloud he arrived under, I'd take Fellaini over him, can't believe he's still at Everton. Arteta too is quite adept in the deep role with defensive duties.
Compared to every other CDM, when it comes to never loosing possession Mikel is your man. Always passes right, always shields well, matured very well over the last few months.
I'll have a crack at this: Cech - 87 Ivanovich - 83 Luiz - 81 Terry - 85 (undeserved, but big rep with EA) Cashley - 84 Mikel - 79 Ramires - 84 (really underrated, would love him at arsenal) Hazard - 85 Mata - 85 Oscar - 81 Torres - 84 (should be a 78)
It's sort of serious. Based on his overall form last season, he should be about an 80 maximum. But as he's famous, and has a big reputation, he never gets a low rating.
If Torres was a 78 then Carroll would have to be a 70. Torres' form picked up towards the end if the season and he looked very bright for Spain in the Euros. I'd say he was 82/83 personally.
You all say that but there is no doubt Torres is still a top player and still retains the ability he was famous for. It's unfair to judge players natural ability on form. Unlike Carrol Torres is actually still a class player.
I don't mind Torres having a decent rating, but they really REALLY need to sort out his ridiculously high pace (which he's lost) and his ridiculous finishing (which hasn't been what it once was for 3 years or so now). Anyone, no matter how **** they are at the game, can play effectively with him online because he's so so overpowered.
