I remember this incident and at the time I thought it was disgraceful the way this lad's teacher and the cops who made the arrest were vilified. Even Obama (the weakest US President in living memory) got in on the act and deified this kid. Look at the facts. A kid brings a device to school - there is some sort of mechanism on display and wires protruding from it. The kid's name is Ahmed Mohamed and he's a Muslim. Yes, I accept that the teacher should have investigated further before pressing the panic button but it was perfectly understandable that she acted in the way she did. He ends up a hero and the teacher and cops look foolish - I believe the teacher was reprimanded by the School Board and vilified in the media for her trouble, as were the cops.

Maybe when an incident like this happens in future teachers will be aware of that and in the name of pathetic political correctness will take no action as their school explodes in flames. Then the media will ask why the teachers didn't do anything.

The sad thing is this kid will win his $15M. Nice work if you can get it. Should help to pay for his and his siblings education.....in Qatar <doh>

Spot on Kiff, that teacher was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. But it appears that taking the safe option and being careful with the welfare of the majority has ended up with lots of people in the ****.

Careful <whistle>

People slag lawyers off - until they need a good one. That's all I'm saying.

Then you are law-abiding, Roof (apart from the stalking <laugh>) but many people find themselves unjustly accused of something, need to sue their employer, or argue their case in front of a civil tribunal. Ghostbusters won't help when you call them. Good lawyers are no different to having a good accountant to fight your tax corner or a good doctor to cure you. They can be worth their weight in gold, and it's facile to always have a dig at them.

Watched the video of the cop shooting the 17 year old black guy in Chicago .......16 times.
Shot him twice and when the kid fell , shot him a few more times , reloaded his gun , and shot him up a bunch more times.
Watched the cop's lawyer being interviewed with a smug look which pretty well said "Look at me , I made it on CNN " .The lawyer said the video doesn't really show the whole picture . Said the cop feared for his life because of the distance between the cop and the guy he shot , although the cop was the one who closed the distance .
7 other cops on the scene didn't shoot , one already had a gun trained on the guy and the cop who did the shooting could have easily hit him with a taser.
I'd like to string the lawyer up by his eyelids and beat him in the balls till he blinked.
I won't say what I'd like to do to the cop.
This happened a year ago , and a day before a judge demanded the cops release the video this week , they charge the cop of first degree murder

It's like a turkey shoot out there , everyone film every thing so either the cops are dumb or just dumb .

It's a shame the mainstream US media aren't saying why cops are shooting black folks, it's because the criminal gangs (predominantly black gangs) shootings cops dead just for being in 'their territory' and then going hunting for other cops in peaceful suburbs as revenge for the cops having the audacity for straying into 'their territory'.

Areas in most of the major US cities have been a no go zone for cops for a long time as these black gangs have a shoot on site policy with police, then return the act of straying into the polices so called territory just to send the message.

Meanwhile the white cops killed by black gang members rarely had a mention in the news.

And here I thought there was suppose to be a difference between cops and criminals project , stupid me .
Got any info on cops killed in Chicago project?
Having a bit of trouble finding any .
Did come across an article saying 2015 will go down as the safest year ever for cops in the U.S. though.

Any country that has over 900 gunshot deaths a MONTH has a problem. The issue isn't just racial tension, as black cops have been charged in the past too. There does seem an 'us and them' mentality out there, with little, if any, community policing. The Supreme Court has previously decided that the Constitution - a document drafted in a different time with different issues but is still followed slavishly - endorses gun ownership so when a state tries to control gun ownership the NRA and other vested interest groups challenge it.

On the other hand I understand the argument that gun control in the U.S only leaves guns in the hands of criminals as Pandora's box was opened a long time ago. My view is that it's all or nothing. You either ban guns and introduce mandatory 10 year prison sentences for unlawful possession without a reasonable excuse, or you leave things as they are and perhaps stop the high powered automatic weapons getting into circulation.

I lived in San Francisco for a while a long time ago, and in everyday life you don't see guns apart form on the cops. But the stats are frightening.

So far in 2015 in the U.S. , 34 police officers have lost their lives to gunfire
On the average in the U.S. , 50 roofers lose their lives on the job , not sure if any of them are by gunfire but I've seen nails go flying by my head at times , none from me as I use a hammer.

I suspect the difference between the two is that the roofers died accidentally.

Point taken, roof. But give me a choice of being a roofer or a cop in the U.S I know which I'd pick. Let's put it this way, I would be picking up a hammer, not a gun.
